It’s tribal vs universal. Democrats feign universal values but are actually tribal. For example, pardons are good when blues do it and bad when reds do it. Republicans recognized this and began acting tribally as well. Lost in the process are universal values.
The issue is that Democrats claim to have the moral highground whereas the Trump claim is basically just that everyone is a self-serving hypocrite, so when Democrats behave like self-serving hypocrites it not only invalidates their brand but validates the other one.
