This used to drive me crazy when I was in college. It was so hard to understand back then. Split your hard edges as UV seams and your life will be easier trust me. This person explained it beautifully.

I've seen some discussion on this site about Rivals of Aether II and the Stop Killing Games initiative. We have no issues with the initiative and I wrote a developer response on a Steam review to clear some things up and I think it would be worthwhile to share here too:
