These pigeons are juveniles, dirty and didn’t even fly away when released. They’ve probably never seen the outside of a (dirty) cage. Please don’t participate in “dove” releases, which are always cruel and harmful to the birds.
Yesterday in Williamsburg, nine doves were released as part of a memorial. A rescuer was able to save six, but tragically, two didn’t survive, and one is still missing. The surviving doves were scared and disoriented, seeking shelter beneath the display. 💔
