Silver Surfer art by my grandfather, Jack Kirby and inked by Joe Sinnott
Seconding this, and also I highly recommend reading Yang’s essay in the collected addition that’s titled, “Superman and Me”
The new movie created a bunch of new fans and if you want to read 1 story that will make you love Superman even more, please read Superman: Smashes the Klan by Gene Luen Yang. Especially if you want to understand why the immigrant experience is so fundamental to Superman.
gene luen yang lowkey ruined superman forever because they are never gonna get the refugee story as good as he got it, and the fact he, without any room for misinterpretation, set it in stone in a popular story makes every other attempt feel almost deliberately ignorant
The thing with Krypton not being alien enough is that it's not supposed to be alien. It's a cautionary tale for earth, where we'll end up if we continue down this path. If it's too alien you lose that. There's a reason Siegels initial ideas had it just be earth in the future
Eternals #15 literally has a scene where Ikaris is hounded by “Comic Fans” about including other marvel heroes in the conflict I just KNOW Jack Kirby was fed up with Editorial and/or fan letters asking for Hulk and shit to appear.
🚨 NEW VIDEO 🚨 SUPERMAN/FANTASTIC FOUR - THE FORGOTTEN CROSSOVER (ft. @ComicTropes) Explaining the history of Superman/Fantastic Four by Dan Jurgens, and how DC's Man of Steel finally crossed over with Marvel's First Family. WATCH NOW ▶️ youtube.com/watch?v=DKELJG…
Her husband was missing in action btw I need to know what's wrong with John Byrne, why does she take it so lightly 😭

Fun fact: He wasn’t! Funky Flashman was based on Stan Lee, and Glorious Godfrey was based on noted Televangelist, Billy Graham

sobre a tal da dificuldade q existe em se começar a ler gibi de super heroi, fiquem com as palavras do grande chico barney:
O fato das hqs terem cronologias loucas e nem a editora sabe “por onde começar” afasta mto novos leitores…
It is funny how much genuine hatred ppl have in their heart for everything pre crisis Superman except like the name "champion of the oppressed" they don't even have to read it, it's like it's all been dismissed in one fell swoop
If you're watching Fantastic Four, please stay for what happens before the 2nd post credits scene Teared up a little, not gonna lie
