Flashback to when new Pirates draft pick Dylan Mathiesen struck out 10 and earned the win as Montour edged West Mifflin to earn a spot in the state final. Mathiesen used to rock the black and gold and hopes to again one day, too. #WPIAL
Dylan Mathiesen was the man today for Montour. Pitched a complete game, giving up four hits and striking out 10 to help the Spartans beat West Mifflin, 2-1, in the PIAA Class 4A baseball semifinals.
The Pirates select Liberty RHP and Montour grad Dylan Mathiesen in the 13th round (383rd overall). Mathiesen led the WPIAL in strikeouts his senior season in 2022 when he helped Montour win its first PIAA title. ⚾️🏆
Outstanding & so proud of this young man. Talent, work ethic & and most importantly a quality guy who never stopped chasing his dream.
