I've long called for a wealth tax - and it’s great to see support for it growing stronger by the day. A 2% Wealth Tax on assets over £10 Million would raise £24 BILLION per year The public backs a Wealth Tax. Let's step up our campaigning to get the Government to introduce one!

These new ESMO recommendations seem pivotal in understanding how specific germline pathogenic variants influence cancer mortality. It's interesting to consider how these findings might shape genetic testing approaches for individuals and families at risk. How do these…
Targeted gene testing like this shows how precision oncology can deliver meaningful results without unnecessary patient burdens. Strong guidelines from ESMO.
Newly-released ESMO recommendations critically assess specific germline pathogenic variants in terms of cancer-related mortality and testing implications for patients and their families Read the full article in the #ESMODailyReporter 🔗 ow.ly/xpGT50W9PuY
See the full paper here: annalsofoncology.org/article/S0923-… We recommend, based on evidence of mortality benefit of interventions, restriction of germline breast cancer panel testing to 7 genes. We must challenge the "more is better" model of gene inclusion on panels that NGS has driven.

Excellent correspondence in @TheLancet by @clare__turnbull and @SullivanProf about Grail-Galleri test , 989 $ blood test which claims to detect 50 cancers . With sensitivity of 27.5 % for early stages , this is surprising that @NHSEngland is even considering this for mass…
"The Catch in Catching Cancer Early" Excellent article by Siddhartha Mukherjee. Exploring the presumption that earlier detection improves outcomes

How difficult can it be to run the GMC? You provide a monopoly service because no one else in the UK can register and regulate doctors. You decide how much doctors will pay you each year. And you are not at all accountable to doctors because they have no say in who runs the GMC.

For the first time, scientists have analysed mutations in stomach lining tissue to reveal the earliest stages of cancer. The team also uncovered a potential new cause of stomach cancer, which needs further research 🔎 sanger.ac.uk/news_item/earl…
This is what happens when you take top science and try to replicate the basic finding. It's dishonest not to admit that there is a huge problem in science.
A study calls for a limit to global warming to 2°C to avoid detrimental impacts on crop diversity and production in more than half of global cropland areas. Especially affecting the tropics where many of the world’s most vulnerable nations are located. nature.com/articles/s4301…
Huge thanks @nataliagandur for an excellent summary of our paper. We have just finished new WES sequencing of 7800 cases of TGCT (so a goof five-fold more than this analysis!) and will analyse against UKBiobank. So let's see where that takes us!
