This is what I’ve been saying. If they really wanted to trade him why would they artificially kill his value further? Especially when they didn’t trade him before. It makes sense to discourage teams from wanting to pay him. But this method might backfire in terms of the outcome
Kuminga is in the warriors plans but the warriors might not be in his lol. That’s the type of stuff you hear and think they don’t want to trade him and are just hoping he signs to a much smaller deal.
They been salary dumping guys, letting franchise legends walk, letting salary slots go for years now and I’m supposed to believe that in the first year of THIS CBA that they wanna overpay Kuminga $30m a year off potential? Or do we just wanna be able to say he’s stupid?
I don’t think they ever made him an offer if they did just based on recent history of their track record it was probably the Austin Reaves offer
You know, I was talking about this last night on Playback. It’s risky, but if these guys take “lowball” offers, it probably sets the stage for every non star after to start getting less. We’re in the tail end of the “Player Empowerment” era, and now Teams are taking back control
I’m not reporting this, but it feels like it’s coming. Watch closely… Jonathan Kuminga, Quentin Grimes, Cam Thomas, and Josh Giddey all feel like candidates to accept the qualifying offer and hit unrestricted free agency in 2026. No long-term deals. No real offers. Just…
Trust me when I say this is much bigger than just JK and Steve
I swear @ceejaytalksball said this during the rockets series lol Not even blaming jk for being petty here and wary of Steve
Latest on Kuminga. Very interesting intel 👀
Reporting for NBA Today -- the latest on restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors as August nears:
I love this kind of content I wish the Warriors did this
The Suns released a fantastic in-depth video inside their war room for the 2025 NBA Draft. This is the type of content NBA fans love when getting a look behind the curtain on how moves occur.https://t.co/z5EpwSE31U
NO one on our side was turning down 30M a year. Our camp is smarter than that. Narrative makes no sense, twisted up Slater’s words I think! #Fakenews
I’ve very glad the NBA does this because otherwise, teams would go with even less experience on their roster simply to be cheap and save money
For @TheDubNationHQ, I took a stab at addressing the misinformation and confusion around the drawn-out Jonathan Kuminga situation, specifically with regards to sign-and-trade possibilities and the roster-building impact of the tax aprons. dubnationhq.com/p/perks-on-the…
For Kuminga, the trade restriction when he re-signs is 3 months or January 15th, whichever comes later.
If he signs a new deal after a date 6months within the trade deadline (like August something) would that make him not eligible to be traded before the deadline? Or does that only work for extensions?
The reality is negotiations get nasty in every business. Player negotiations are played out in public instead of a private boardroom. You try to find a middle ground where everyone walks away thinking they won. If so, relationships can be mended.
That’s a sneaky good signing for the suns ngl
The Phoenix Suns have claimed former Lakers guard Jordan Goodwin off free agency waivers, sources tell ESPN. Goodwin, waived by the Lakers to create roster space for Marcus Smart, is a gritty, upside pickup for the Suns backcourt.

There's a startlingly widespread belief among average fans that NBA front offices are substantially dumber than the average fan. If only NBA GMs knew the best way to acquire a deep understanding of basketball is listening to podcasts and passively watching games on TV.
So what is y’alls real goal? Should we believe the Warriors were irresponsible enough to offer JK 30m a year so we can call JK dumb? Doesn’t that make GSW dumb too? I just think it’s unlikely they actually offered him that much, and unlikely that they’d actually turn it down.
Bro I can’t wait til this Kuminga situation is sorted out so we can get back to talking X’s and O’s basketball again. I wanna know what our roster will be. I wanna grind film and watch games like we usually do. I hope we can focus on the basketball this yr not the narratives
Exactly, but I’m supposed to believe they came to the table and offered 30m/yr out the gate? Like let’s be real man. Iguodala called it out years ago. These guys don’t *want* to pay.
This is the same franchise that low balled Steph because of his ankles at $11M a year, low balled Klay which led him to leave and nearly lose Andre twice for the same reasons They have a tradition of trying to save money any way they can
Listen bro. I don’t know which are facts or rumors. But to me, I just have a hard time believing the Warriors would offer JK that kind of contract to begin with in this CBA. That’s just irresponsible. Everything they’ve been doing the last 3 seasons has been about saving money.
I'm happy to see this, new complexion to the situation, but it sounds strange to be referring to reports (1 which was from Jake Fischer) referred to as "rumors".
