First #baskingsharks tagged north of the Arctic Circle around Lofoten. Great HI team effort and collaboration with the public! #SharksontheMove @Havforskningen @forskningsradet @kenoferter @ClaudiaJunge111 @FisheriesRobert @DrNeilHammer @TheSimsLab
New in @NatureClimate – Climate-driven global redistribution of whale #sharks predicts increased threat from shipping, making possible increased mortality from lethal collisions & greater under High Emissions scenario @FreyaWomersley @thembauk OA here: nature.com/articles/s4155…
Having a great time listening to @ClaudiaJunge111 talking about tagging porbeagles in Norway for the #SharksontheMove project! @Havforskningen @cakloecker #trackingnotslacking 🦈
How might aquatic connectivity be impacted by #climatechange and how can we manage it? Actions to #futureproof aquatic connectivity discussed in this new paper: doi.org/10.1111/jfb.15… @DrPFranklin #JFB
A year ago, the #HighSeasTreaty opened to state signatures. 92 countries have signed up, but only 8 have ratified it. At this year’s #UNGA, we need to go further, faster and move from promises to action 🌊🌍⏰
Have you ever wondered what the long-term effects of tagging fishes are? We've collated peer-reviewed literature and anecdotal information to answer this question: doi.org/10.1111/faf.12… In @FishFishJournal led by @JK_Matley
Check out this collaborative #shark work. With 1867m we recorded the deepest dive of a porbeagle. Covering latitudes from 30°N to 76°N they encountered temperature differences of 20°C. More collaborative efforts are needed to study and manage this transboundary species!
Beyond grateful to have attended the #BLS8, thanks to the organizers for an unforgettable symposium! I feel so inspired :) Special shoutout to @YWatanabe412 for letting me visit his institute, what an amazing time. Here's to all future collabs! #biologging #trackingnotslacking
New study on #SharksintheDark published in @ScienceMagazine finds increasing human impact to deepwater sharks and rays. 🧵 #GlobalSharkTrends bit.ly/SharksInTheDark science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Friends of the marine environment! We are happy to announce that the #ICYMARE2024 call for abstracts is now open! Check out our sessions through the link below! We will showcase the different sessions over the next few days so stay tuned for more. 🐳🐙 tinyurl.com/ICYcallforabst…
What a great time at @bls8tokyo2024. A week of inspiring talks and discussions about diverse topics in the field of #biologging and a fascinating city with a rich culture and cuisine. Thanks to the organisers and the participants for making this such an outstanding experience!

Regional endothermy in the smalltooth sandtiger shark?! – and what this means for the extinct megalodon!l 🦈🦈🔥. Published today in Biology Letters, led by @haleydolton with fab collaborative team. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…. 1/4
What a finish @fsbi2023 with sessions on food 🕸️, ONE Health and 🐠connectivity with amazing talks about the tropic ecology of deep water 🦈, thiamine deficiency, the importance of parasites and the value of multi-method approaches to study connectivity patterns. Thanks #FSBI2023!

Great keynote by Bronwyn Gillanders @BronGillanders in the @SeaUnicorn2020 session on #marine #connectivity at the #FSBI2023 conference. All you ever wanted to know about connectivity variation and partial migration in marine fish, including during their after life as fish&chips
Amazing week @fsbi2023 full of incredibly inspiring talks about fish habitat ecology in a changing climate and connecting with amazing people! #FSBI2023 @TheFSBI
Day 2 @fsbi2023 highlighted successes and challenges in fisheries management and habitat restoration. We learned about the importance of nursery areas, otoliths and density dependence in salmon and project co-design with anglers and the public to find and manage (new) 🐠 species

More cool sharks at @fsbi2023! Looking forward to hear more about the work of @cakloecker with basking sharks 🦈✨
Bluefin #tuna returning to UK waters and @CefasGovUK and fishers (n=2824 and counting) working together to develop a brand new ambitious tagging programme #CHART. Fantastic talks by Dave Righton and Joanna Ford at #FSBI2023 @Uni_of_Essex
We are looking for a new PhD-student & post doc for our project, tracking movement of multiple fish species in the River Aare/Rhine Network in Switzerland with a large acoustic telemetry-tracking network. More positions to follow. apply.refline.ch/673277/1077/pu… apply.refline.ch/673277/1078/pu…
