THE 25 BEST FILMS OF 2024 a video countdown vimeo.com/1045229477

this marks guadagnino’s fourth nyff selection and his first opening night nod. simply cannot wait for this.
We’re thrilled to announce that Luca Guadagnino’s AFTER THE HUNT, starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, and Andrew Garfield, is the #NYFF63 Opening Night selection, making its North American premiere on September 26! Opening Night is presented in partnership with @ROLEX. Reserve…
wanted to love 40 ACRES, and enjoyed some of its visual flair — the sort of craft that promises a career worth following from r.t. thorne — but the whole doesn’t match the parts. my review: insessionfilm.com/movie-review-4…

40 ACRES nearly transcends its familiar apocalyptic tropes. Review by @bywillbjarnar insessionfilm.com/movie-review-4…
Michael Haneke didn’t direct a single feature until he was 47. He is one of 9 directors to win multiple Palme d’ors. Life is not a race, persue it at your own pace. Do what makes YOU happy.

kiyoshi kurosawa's CLOUD is one of the best films of the year. a delicious and delirious psychological thriller that isn't always sprinting at full speed, but certainly never slows down. my review from TIFF last year: geekvibesnation.com/cloud-review-t…

James Gunn could bring Henry Cavill back in the DCU, but as Batman. Think about it. Cavill auditioned for Batman before. Him & David look similar like the characters do in the animation. We need an older Batman that has Damian. Going from #Superman to Batman is still goated!
i give it ten minutes til i see this used as marketing for TIGETHER
Daylight horror
Screen Slate is proud to continue publishing critical writing for literate adults, such as this piece by Mark Asch on the very exciting Lithuanian writer-director Laurynas Bareiša’s sophomore film DROWNING DRY screenslate.com/articles/drown…
via Hell Gate, the NYT essentially firing its music, classical, TV and theater reviewers to make room for... influencers? (one merit of the weekly review tied to the release calendar as a format is that it levels the playing field for writers who aren't careerist maniacs)
per usual, people are missing the point when it comes to ari aster. this isn't a guy who sets out to make THE MOVIE about something, but a filmmaker who itches to use ~something~ as an intriguing backdrop for his movies. EDDINGTON is fantastic. might be my favorite of his films.
struggling to tell whether or not pedro pascal is a good sport or this is really the sort of stuff he responds to. i hope it’s the former, but every one of these clips has vanessa kirby looking like she wants to die and pascal encouraging a genuine answer to asinine “questions.”
Jesus Christ, this entire #FantasticFour junket is going to be exhausting, isn’t it?
Re: Odyssey tickets I just don’t think it’s a good idea to treat movies like concerts. If this becomes a regular thing, people are going to buy and flip tickets like crazy. The movies should be for everyone, not freaks and opportunists.
if you're a fan of the movies, and going to them, how does the precedent this sets not fill you with absolute dread
these motherfuckers don’t play bro
