Beautiful essay and I hope it brings hope and information to many. And a heartfelt congratulations to @madeleinekearns on the birth of her daughter!
IVF is a $10 billion industry. It’s grueling, often unsuccessful—and controversial. @MadeleineKearns found another way: a clinic that aims to restore fertility instead of replacing it in a lab. thefp.com/p/what-i-went-…
Just a reminder that Byrd was an *actual* KKK leader.
To think WV once was represented by senatorial giants such as Jay Rockefeller and Robert C Byrd. Now we have senatorial featherweights- @SenCapito & Baby dog @JimJustice_WV as they support clawing back funding from PBS, NPR, foreign aid wvgazettemail.com/news/politics/…
Roaches in the hospital. No labor & delivery. No pediatric ER staff. But sure, WV’s certificate of need laws ensure our hospital is delivering “top-quality care” to all. 🙃

I wouldn’t spend time reposting it, but they went to a concert with a colleague - what expectation of privacy is there? Marriage and the family unit are sacred. Society should frown upon tearing it apart - especially when sacrificing it to selfish desires.
I know I'm swimming against the mob ... but the widespread posting of the video of the CEO and his mistress at the concert is just unseemly. They are private citizens, they did not ask for the spotlight, and this is between them and their spouses. We don't have to be like this.

Oh.
BBC Gaza documentary breached editorial guidelines on accuracy by failing to disclose child narrator was son of Hamas official, review finds bbc.in/4lTx0Y9
One of the dumbest things we do as a society is pretend fathers, and particularly intact families, don’t matter.
My latest Substack looks at new research on the effects of intact families--specifically engaged fathers--on student outcomes. Nothing we do in schools comes close to matching it. thenext30years.substack.com/p/family-struc…
Every day this app reminds me of when @wanyeburkett said everyone is either a parent or still a child.
This is the “alpha male” MAGA keeps telling us about? Really?
I’ve never seen this claim hold up. It seems to me that many people just prefer liquor and fries to quinoa and jogging. Every inner-city farm market/healthy store I’ve been to takes EBT, and some of the unhealthiest areas often have the most walkable parks.
Some people think our country’s health problems come down to a lack of awareness about nutrition and wellness. But the reality is far more urgent — and far more systemic. The real drivers of health inequity aren’t about whether someone knows quinoa is healthier than fries.…
Big difference between sending a 6-week old and a 3 year old.
sometimes I think uber trad daycare hating people have never talked to anyone in real life who has sent or gone to daycare? yeah some kids don’t love it but a lot of kids are obsessed and love going
New from yours truly at my Substack, "The Next 30 Years." Family structure appears to influence student outcomes than anything we can ever do in school. How should we respond to that? thenext30years.substack.com/p/family-struc…
My husband reviewing the Amazon purchases on the credit card bill

Are they making $15/hr forever? It takes a lot of effort to stay entry level for long.
It’s genuinely bizarre watching Boomers convince themselves that a couple making $15/hour at 7 Eleven can buy a home, raise family, and retire. They’ll go down as the generation that was chronically delusional
The #JonesAct is an outdated policy that needs serious reforms, specifically paring down its overly burdensome restrictions. My latest Explainer with @aier dives into this, providing a quick and easy to understand explanation of its history and effects over the last century.…

It's still hilarious to me that someone from Uganda identifying as part African-American was actually a news story. For those unaware, Uganda is a country in Africa.
