In the midst of all the planning for #COVID_19 in the uk. A big thank you to all the admin teams in the #NHS putting in the extra work with rescheduling appointments and answering patient queries. Often forgotten but vital. #coronaUK #coronavirus
Time for the NHS to seriously re think how it uses management consultants blogs.york.ac.uk/healthcare-man…
Everywhere I have worked or with, single biggest improvement in Th “productivity” however measured is through effective scheduling with surgeon/anaesthetic/theatre input- not sure AI can replicate that yet
It is unquestionably true that improving basic operational practices in the NHS (eg scheduling and coordination) would yield huge productivity gains. It is far less obvious that AI can contribute much to those gains.
I'm going to post this again as discussions about what needs to be done with the NHS's new money are still assuming that poor performance is driven by demand: linkedin.com/pulse/queues-d…

Imagine a younger person suggesting pensioners on low income should eat like this. Some older people are so disengaged from reality. Breakfast clubs aren't just about feeding children and as a taxpayer, I'd rather more was spent on children than on triple locked state pensions.
A loaf of white bread in Aldi is 50p. A tin of baked beans or spaghetti hoops is 27p. Breakfast for a kid for a week.

Gutted for the late 3rd goal but got to be proud of the team. PSG are a serious team #AVFC
theguardian.com/society/2025/a… Whilst i am sure this polls well with the public. Slash and burn cuts like this will be so damaging to providers. I work with a lot of teams and am yet to find a "back office" team who are overstaffed....
I have been critical of NHSE in the past and no doubt there are areas that need urgent change, but abolishing raises a lot of questions- moving everything directly under DHSC control may not be better. Not to mention there will be some great people now worried about jobs
BREAKING: Prime minister announces govt will abolish @NHSEngland
Aston Villa is delighted to announce the Club have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League ✨
The first woman to lead the NHS and through a global pandemic no less. The top job comes with an unimaginable personal toll. I wish Amanda well for the future #nhs
Earlier today I wrote to the @NHSEngland chair, Richard Meddings, and @wesstreeting, to inform them of my intention to step down as Chief Executive at the end of March. You can read my letter to the Secretary of State here.

The language is about the performance of individuals. Individuals inhabit systems. Systems enhance or constrain performance. Few managers go to work saying "I think I'll do a shit job today"
In August, we're exploring the great opportunities for Proud2bOps members! Through 7 regional networks, WhatsApp groups, regional sessions, and face-to-face events, operational managers and leaders can share knowledge, connect with peers and experts locally and beyond.

Productivity is a system problem not an individual problem but the NHS has long forgotten how to think in terms of systems never mind identify the right improvements.
Honestly I know it’s not as sexy but if we could just sort out the basics from portering, bed booking, patient communication, equipment procurement and staffing that would allow normal lists to run well that would lovely. Maybe once we’ve got that nailed we can talk HIS….
Who is around for @NHSConfed expo day 2? #NHHSConfedExpo
