Proud to be part of the NHS.
76% of the NHS workforce are women - scientists, midwives, doctors, receptionists and more - all are shaping the future of healthcare. This #InternationalWomensDay, thank you to the women leading, caring, and innovating across the NHS.
Thank you Layla. It was a great opportunity to talk to @commonshealth about plans for next year. The role of parliamentary committees is invaluable, not just in holding to account, but helping us shape policy so we can improve services for patients.
Thank you to Amanda Pritchard and @NHSEngland, for a very productive follow up meeting with committee members and I on planning guidance. It has been a pleasure working with you in the short time we have had and I want to wish you all the best for the future.
It has been an honour to work alongside Steve - his contribution to the NHS and the country has been enormous, especially during the pandemic. Thank you for your expertise and tireless dedication to improving patient care.
After nearly 8 years in the role, this summer I will be stepping down as National Medical Director for NHS England. It has been an immense privilege to serve as National Medical Director and to work alongside so many fantastic colleagues, all dedicated to improving the NHS.
SARCs are one of those NHS services we all wish didn’t need to exist – but as long as there are people who need the specialist care they provide, we are determined to ensure that they can get it. Find out more about the help available. ➡️ nhs.uk/SARCs
The number of people being referred for specialist NHS support following rape or sexual assault has increased by nearly 18% in the last two years, NHS data suggest. ➡️ england.nhs.uk/2025/03/referr…
NHS dentistry is under pressure - patients & dental teams deserve better. It was a pleasure to also meet NHS dentists Rosie & Emilie yesterday - a mum & daughter NHS team - to show me round their amazing practice in London & talk about how we make NHS dentistry fit for the future

The NHS is embracing the digital age - yesterday I met with Crosslands GP Surgery in Southall who are testing ambient voice tech to speed up writing notes & referral letters. This innovative new tech lets GPs spend more time doing what matters most – looking after their patients.
