Dreams became reality through @michael_CUAnsch tremendous PhD work! Thrilled this phenomenal collaboration with @CUNeurophotons @LabRestrepo is out in the wild. Looking forward to helping others leverage the powers of long-term three-photon microscopy 💪🏼🤓🔬
Three-photon microscopy for long-term in vivo three-photon imaging of the entire cortical column and subcortical white matter in adult mice reveals region-specific differences in healthy and regenerative #oligodendrocyte formation @EthanHughesLab et al. nature.com/articles/s4159…
New work from Yasmine Kamen shows that differentiating oligodendrocytes are filled with the zymogen procaspase-3. This provides a specific marker for new oligodendrocytes and suggests a role for this pathway in oligodendrocyte fate decisions. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

New work from @Anpietra that defines in vivo mitochondrial morphometrics and dynamics in microglia. Alicia discovered that mitochondria are rarely present in surveillant or injury-responding processes. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… @MCBDartmouth @DartmouthNeuro @dartmouthartsci
congratulations to Xhoela Bame on her amazing paper that defines the mitochondrial dynamics occurring during oligodendrocyte and myelin generation. nature.com/articles/s4146… @MCBDartmouth @dartmouthartsci @NatureComms
congratulations to @GenaroOlveda and Maryanne Barasa for their beautiful paper that investigates how microglia dynamically clear single-dying oligodendrocytes and myelin sheaths. cell.com/cell-reports/f… @CellReports @DartmouthNeuro @dartmouth
🥳Congratulations @GenaroOlveda for successfully defending his dissertation and becoming Dr. Genaro Olveda! @DartGRAD
Thesis Defense Announcement: Please join us on Thursday, May 2nd at 9am in Kellogg 200 to support Genaro E. Olveda @GenaroOlveda in presenting his thesis seminar! @DartmouthGRAD
Important contribution and clarification about when and how these amazing cells die by Tim @myelin_nation and other co-authors Yasmine Kamen and Enrique Piedra. Thanks for highlighting @SfNJournals @SfNtweets

MCB @DartGRAD student Xhoela Bame from the @bobalhill lab shared 1st place for best poster at the annual @dartmouth @DartmouthNeuro @GeiselMed #neuroscienceday! 🥳🧠 Want to hear about Xhoela's work? She's giving the @DartBioMT talk this morning at 9am in Remsen 512 🧑🔬🔥
New work from Genaro using oligodendrocyte 2Phatal to determine how dying oligodendrocytes and myelin are cleared from the brain. Genaro discovered that this process is highly orchestrated, carried out by single microglia, and modulated by Cx3r1. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
New work by Xhoela reveals how mitochondria change during oligodendrocyte generation. In addition to showing precisely how these organelles are partitioned in the cell, Xhoela also discovered that animal arousal impacts mitochondrial motility in OPCs. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

The future is visiting again. MITOchats are back this Thursday The MITOscience of tomorrow, today. See you there! @bobalhill @MargheZamb @NGrotehans @langer_lab
Congrats to MCB @DartGRAD student Xhoela Bame (@bobalhill's Lab) on being selected as one of the top 5 writing winners in the 2023 Science Policy and Advocacy Certificate Program for STEM Scientists! 🥳✍️ #scicomm #scipol
new work from the lab by Tim Chapman! striking differences in cell death that depend on oligodendrocyte age.
