“If we cut up beasts simply because they cannot prevent us and because we are backing our own side in the struggle for existence, it is only logical to cut up imbeciles, criminals, enemies, or capitalists for the same reasons.” C.S. Lewis
“Immigration laws are the only laws that are discussed in terms of how to help people who break them.” Thomas Sowell
SSRI (and benzo) withdrawal can possibly last years in a small subset of the population. For most, if it does occur, it’s much shorter. Patients are usually weaned off to avoid it. Not my favorite meds, a lot of PCPs throw them on right away if a depression screen is positive.
Someone on my substack comments was told by her physician that SSRIs are “safer than tic tacs.” She’s 11 years into SSRI withdrawal having lost “my career, my marriage, my finances, for many years I was housebound.”
Should I keep medicine poasting? Not really my niche here. But I feel like I could be a bridge between modern medicine and the alt med/peater and reenchanter type crowds
Being in the medical field I’ve found Peat to be a breath of fresh air on a meaningful philosophy of health, rather than thinking of health the absence of disease. Seems like he shows a way modern medicine can be reintegrated with metaphysics
“Attention is not just receptive, but actively creative of the world we inhabit.” Iain McGilchrist
