I want to thank all of you for the kindness these past few months. Truly. It means A LOT. Since many have inquired & Penn State hits the practice field NEXT week: No, I’m not going anywhere. More details to come next week, but I’m really excited about this next chapter!
So… After nearly 7 years at The Athletic, my time with the company has come to an end. They no longer want to cover Penn State with a full-time beat writer. Proud of the work I did and the stories I told. Thank you to so many who subscribed. Time to figure out what’s next!

Penn State’s James Franklin not a fan of Big Ten Media Days in Las Vegas.
"There's a ton of conversations that are happening nationally and we embrace that and we've earned that," Franklin said of the preseason expectation. "The reality is when it comes to the Lasch football building or when it comes to local, we always have those expectations."

Iowa announces its games against Indiana and Minnesota are sold out. As for the others: 2,400 for the opener against UAlbany (Aug. 30, 5 p.m.) 1,000 for UMass (Sept. 13, 6:30 p.m.) 1,000 for Penn State (Oct. 18) 1,600 for Oregon (Nov. 8) 3,800 for Michigan State (Nov. 22)

Sat down with Drew Allar this morning and followed up on Kotelnicki's request. QB1 laughed, but added that he's the lightest he's been at Penn State (233-236 consistently) & the most lean. "I'm excited. ... Another year in the weight room has been invaluable."
Physically, how is Drew Allar different now than he was in January? “Ask him to flex next time you see him," Andy Kotelnicki said. "You’ll see. He almost caught me. Almost as good looking as I am.”

Penn State released statements from Guy Gadowsky and AD Pat Kraft on the addition of Gavin McKenna. Yeah, it’s that big of a deal that the AD weighed in on the commitment
And another thought: What if Terry Pegula’s son didn’t go to Icers hockey camps? That’s the catalyst for all of this: Son goes to hockey camp at dad’s alma mater, family loves the sport and keeps following the club program. Family later funds D1 program, etc, etc.
Penn State is poised for an insane sports year: Women’s volleyball, wrestling are defending national titles, men’s hockey now the frontrunner with Gavin McKenna… Oh and of course, football with a legit title shot. Wild times, indeed.
