Here is my 80mm refractor's view of @SpaceX IFT-8 debris flying south of Florida, be sure to check out the full 4K video with the view from the 11" telescope as well: youtube.com/watch?v=DhXZAJ… @Erdayastronaut @DJSnM @MarcusHouse @PettitFrontier
Throwback to the time I caught nominal Raptor engine shutdown at the end of the IFT-4 launch from Florida. Here's hoping we see this again soon.

A noctilucent cloud left behind by the Falcon 9 this morning. My telescope tracked the launch on behalf of a company to test their sensor, so unfortunately I will not be able to share the footage from the scope.
Falcon 9 launches 28 @Starlink satellites to orbit from Florida
This photo gave me a new perspective on how our sky looks, and I hope it does the same for you. Get my latest artwork “Above the Rift” for a short time at the link in my bio.
Here is a time lapse of comet 3I/ATLAS recorded with my 8" LX200. The comet is about magnitude 17, right at the limit of what my scope can capture with these 60 second exposures. It's extremely faint, so I also stacked 65 minutes of light aligned on the comet using astrometry.

Tonight I begin searching for the return of the comet I discovered back in 2016 using the STEREO spacecraft. It was recovered in late 2020 from Earth, and it's coming around again this year. Should still be too early to detect, but may as well look for any unexpected outbursts.
Spotted interstellar object C/2025 N1 ATLAS using T75 on @iTelescope_Net!
Here's a GraXpert and Siril re-processing of M101 using AI background subtraction, denoising, and StarNet separate processing of the galaxy and the stars. The 6 hours of light in this stack come from 2023 during the SN 2023ixf supernova, hard to believe it's already been 2 years!

I'll attempt to image and live stream it as soon as the weather allows, possibly Sunday night. It's been raining here a lot lately, including last night.
Interstellar visitor confirmed. #A11pl3Z is now known as 3I/ATLAS. It is only the third confirmed object from beyond our solar system.
Yesterday after my talk at Lowell someone in the audience asked me about ‘Oumuamua - and I ended by saying that with new telescopes coming online we’d expect to find more interstellar objects- well it looks like another candidate is showing an eccentricity of ~10!!!!
