In the next few weeks we will here a lot of upsetting things from the other side about the DFL convention but here's the truth: Yesterday Fateh voters, Jazz voters and Davis voters came together to deliver a POWERFUL rebuke of politics as usual and endorse @OmarFatehMN

Frey: make me the strongest mayor! Please!! Democracy is stupid and ~i~ should be making all decisions, not a democratically elected council! Also Frey: 😡 600 people elected to a convention is NOT a real democracy I literally brought my 3 besties who just graduated from college

This move was ridiculous. Frey’s campaign saying this screwed over all the moderate/conservative Park Board candidates he’s aligned with. Some of them might’ve had a chance to block endorsement or even win their districts.

The sitting mayor barely cracked 30% of the convention delegates. In fact, he couldn’t even get to 34% to block suspensions of the rules. The floor strategy appeared to be “getting people on mics to make the same motion over and over again.” An embarrassing showing by Mayor Frey.

Last fall, @OmarFatehMN called me saying he wanted to run for Minneapolis Mayor. To be honest I was skeptical about his candidacy and prospects. So we met for coffee to chat. And in that meeting he blew me away. He earned my first choice vote. And now I’m his co-CM. 🧵

One thing is clear: yesterday the Minneapolis DFL delegates made a strong rebuke of Frey’s failing administration and voted a mandate for a positive vision based on affordability, standing up to Trump, and a public safety system that works for all of us.
