@ancnewsguild
We are the newsroom staff of @adndotcom working to form a union. Our mission: to improve local journalism and serve Alaska readers for generations to come.
We did it! A majority of @adndotcom newsroom staff voted to unionize. The @nlrbgov counted our ballots today via Zoom after receiving a few mail-in ballots. This makes the ADN the only unionized newsroom in Alaska. Thank you for your support! #ADNunited

🗳️ELECTION WIN: Congratulations to @ancnewsguild for becoming the first unionized newspaper in Alaska!✊

In other election news, @adndotcom just became Alaska’s only unionized newsroom 🖊️ 🗡️

🗳️ Today was Election Day for the Anchorage News Guild! We voted in an election facilitated by the @NLRB 🗳️ Because we have a few staff members who will be voting with mail ballots, our votes will be counted by the NLRB on Nov. 5. Stay tuned! #ADNunited

ADN employees are dedicated and work hard at the jobs we love. We’re unionizing to have a greater say in what our work lives look like. #ADNunited

Thank you, @SeaTimesUnion for your support of our union!
The Seattle Times Union message to @ADNdotcom: "It's imperative that your journalists are able to afford to live in the city they cover. ..."
We’re uniting because we love our jobs and want to be able to keep doing them for a long time. Guild members are just asking for a seat at the table. #ADNunited

By uniting, we want to work with management to ensure the ADN can attract and support talented journalists for years to come. #ADNunited

congrats to the journalists at @WLRN . This is what we had hoped would happen in Alaska.
Great news: Our union has been voluntarily recognized! We are very optimistic about the choice to voluntarily recognize our union, and expect that it will be the beginning of a fruitful relationship between station management and our new union with @sagaftra. #WeMakeWLRN
Our election to officially form the Anchorage News Guild is coming up on Tuesday! 🗳️ Over the next few days, we’ll share some words directly from our members about why they support this union. #ADNunited

We’re grateful to have the support of these former @adndotcom journalists and staff, who signed this op-ed outlining why our union is vital and necessary. Check it out 👇 thealaskacurrent.com/2024/09/25/its…
Wouldn’t be a dues paying member, but the newsroom seal skull on my desk wants to see a fair contract and a union.
The owner of @adndotcom rejected newsroom workers’ request to voluntarily recognize their union. ADN management has hired the same law firm that spearheaded union-busting efforts for Starbucks, Amazon, and the Southeast Alaska Conservation Council. bit.ly/4gmKREe
Guess the owners of the Anchorage Daily News have some money to burn. Please support the journalists who have already made their voice clear by signing the petition linked in this thread.
Today, the Anchorage News Guild learned ADN owner Ryan Binkley has declined our request for voluntary recognition of our union. ADN management has also hired an attorney from Littler Mendelson, a notoriously anti-union law firm.
🚨 UPDATE: Anchorage Daily News management dismissed the 80% support from journalists wanting a union and instead ran to an anti-union law firm. America's journalists stand firmly with @ancnewsguild! Sign this petition demanding management reverse course: bit.ly/supportANG
