My fourth time writing a long read wrap of a federal election campaign. None are the same. Thank you to everyone who spoke to me. Let me know what you think.
#StarExclusive: Pierre Poilievre’s campaign was faltering — but Mark Carney’s was vulnerable too. The inside story of how the Conservatives and Liberals both fumbled the 2025 federal election. A three-part series with 100-plus interviews with insiders. trib.al/JAsi6tM
Sad news. While I often crossed swords with John McCallum, I had respect for his service to Canada. John stepped up to help Afghan interpreters when their plight was being ignored and he made a real impact. Here is one story. 1/4
The Honourable John McCallum was an exemplary public servant, economist, diplomat, and parliamentarian. His contributions to Canada leave a lasting legacy. PM Carney extends his deepest condolences to his family and friends on the news of his passing. ow.ly/vC1350Wes8X

Iran’s nuclear programme is a grave threat to international security, and Canada has been consistently clear that Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon. While U.S. military action taken last night was designed to alleviate that threat, the situation in the…
This speech by @XBarsalouDuval is worth listening to on C-5. Notes that Liberals denied extra committee hearing hours, witnesses already booked were told not to come, says that no Liberal on the committee voted for any amendments to this bill, etc.

Mark Carney didn’t run on a pledge to enact c-5, to concentrate power in the hands of cabinet, to delete environmental laws from consideration , or dismiss public consultation prior to a project approval, for the Govt House Ldr to dismissively wave off concerns is disrespectful.

We are increasingly hearing from concerned constituents about the safety of their Canadian loved ones in the Middle East. The Carney government needs to clearly communicate its contingency plans, so that if an evacuation is required those Canadians who want to leave know what…

My point exactly. C-5 will give Liberal ministers the power to handpick whatever projects they choose. Politicians will decide who gets to skip the queue and who gets stuck in years of red tape. That’s not certainty.
The natural resources minister @timhodgsonmt has mislead the House of Commons telling @ShannonStubbsMP that "politicians do not pick the projects" for C5 — which is exactly what C5 champions. @ElizabethMay in the House asks him if he understands his own Act. (?!?!)
