Sherwood Forest Up Close! The exhibition of my work runs for another week at Worksop Library (finishing 18.10.23). Here we see the compound eye of a hornet, produced with a x20 microscope lens mounted on my camera. It's good fun to see the giant print. #macrophotography

Ormyrus nitidulus, which parasitises various oak gall wasps and a gall midge. 5mm long. Found at #SherwoodForest stuck in a cobweb. It was unharmed after I removed the silk, allowing me to get a few shots before it flew off. What a gem of an insect! #insects #macrophotography

This Large White caterpillar played host to the stuff of nightmares, eaten alive from the inside by Cotesia glomerata wasp larvae, which spun yellow cocoons. Adult wasps then emerged. More excitement as 2mm hyperparasitoid wasps then emerged in final pic (ID help appreciated!)
