I was thrilled to give this talk on an important rare CNS inflammatory condition I see relatively frequently in my practice at @UnityHealthTO @SMHNeurology - neurosarcoidosis. A true clinical chameleon, it demands vigilance, early recognition, & collaboration across specialties.
Quite possibly the best review of neurosarcoidosis ever! Thank you to @AlexMuccilli for presenting at our last neurology grand rounds for the year and for sharing her “deep dive” insights and recent updates on management for this complex disease.

Dr. Steven says the device is only approved in the United States, and Christine is one of a handful of people to have this procedure done in Canada ctvnews.ca/london/article…

What’s the source for MS tremor? Typically we think of posterior fossa lesions, but it’s likely more complex. Here we present a series of patients with unilateral tremor and critical lesions in the motor strip. authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S22…

Always appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with @EoinFlanagan14 , this time to review the "who, what, where, when, why, and how" of MOG antibody testing in @MSJ_Research . Hopefully helps facilitate accurate diagnosis of #MOGAD in clinical practice. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/13…

Had a great time on the @GreenJournal Neurology Podcast chatting about CSF correction factors for traumatic LP in adults! Hopefully a valuable discussion for those using these "rules of thumb" (e.g. subtract 1 WBC for every 1000 RBC) in clinical practice: youtube.com/watch?v=lihZod…
Delighted to share @Lauz_Caccia et al #MOGAD epidemiology study: ➡️ 1st such population-based study in North America ➡️ Prevalence of 3.7/100K in Olmsted County & 2.61/100K in Martinique ➡️Trend towards increased incidence & recognition over time 👇 link.springer.com/article/10.100…
Diagnosing PML relies heavily on CSF JC virus PCR. Our study finds excellent PPV of PCR performed at our national testing site, and highlights suggestive neuroimaging findings that can facilitate PML diagnosis. Illustrative images of these findings below: doi.org/10.1016/j.jns.…

Delighted to share @dinoto_ale et al study on the rare cerebellar attacks in #NMOSD attacks: ➡️ Often coexist with brainstem attacks ➡️ MRIs with peduncle or dentate nucleus lesions ➡️ Should be incorporated in upcoming 2025 #NMOSD diagnostic criteria 👇 neurology.org/doi/10.1212/NX…
Congratulations to the #NMOSD team at Mayo Clinic for Receiving The Team Science Award 🤩 From defining its clinical/pathological features to finding aquaporin-4 antibodies to leading trials of effective treatments - this team have greatly improved outcomes for #NMOSD patients
Lack of comprehensive neural antibody testing is definitely a significant contributor to diagnostic delay of #autoimmune encephalitis. See our latest publication: cambridge.org/core/journals/… Are you aware that in London @LHSCCanada we have those panels available? @adrianbudhram1

Fantastic Autoantibody Summit 2024 this year in Fredericton NB, with excellent keynote by Dr. Andrew McKeon on neural antibody testing for #encephalitis. Has been a few years since my @MayoClinic fellowship but still learning from the group! @mayocliniclabs @MayoClinicNeuro

In pts with chronic seizures and suspected "autoimmune epilepsy", we found low yield of routine CSF analysis. In such pts an autoimmune cause is rare; most relevant ab (LGI1/CASPR2/GAD65) detected in serum; bland CSF doesn't rule out these ab. Role of LP? cambridge.org/core/journals/…
This month’s issue of @ContinuumAAN on Autoimmune Neurology has a fantastic article by Dr. Jennifer McCombe on the neurologic manifestations of rheumatologic disorders, including sarcoidosis. Highly recommend! @drjenmccombe @UofA_Neurology #ContinuumCase journals.lww.com/continuum/full…
