“MAGA Antitrust” is really just helping Trump friends and hurting his enemies. Alford and Rinner got punished for not realizing that.

Stoller told us that Trump and Vance would continue Khan’s legacy. Bannon hugged Khan, and they celebrated “antitrust horseshoe politics.” But “MAGA Antitrust” has only ever really been about punishing Trump’s enemies & helping his friends. That’s it.

Lord please give me a Dem party that builds abundance, fair play, state capacity, merit and the American dream We want public safety, great schools, lots of housing and an end to NGO and public sector grift If that is heresy please get your pitchforks and light your torches!
The good news about the implosion of the Democratic Party brand is that voters don't like or trust institutions anyway, and it's been a challenge for Dem candidates that many of them are seen by voters as inauthentic automatons reciting the latest bulletin from party HQ. Now…
Check out the comments on this anti-autonomous vehicle stance from a Boston mayoral candidate
I stand with the hardworking people of Boston in opposing any rollout of autonomous vehicles that threatens to displace good union jobs. As Mayor, I’ll always prioritize protecting Boston’s workforce and will proudly stand with Teamsters Local 25, ADU, IAM, UFCW 1445, and SEIU…
Going to be funny if after 10 years of criticizing neoliberalism Gen Z says “Why can’t we just have cheap consumer goods and low interest rates?”
“Today’s progressives are basically techno-pessimists. Progressives are now distinctly unenthusiastic about the potential of technology, tending to see it as a dark force to be contained rather than a force for good to be celebrated.“ open.substack.com/pub/theliberal…
Presdient Trump, in remarks at a White House AI Plan press conference just unambiguoulsy and forcefully said that assuring the success of America's AI program cannot be reconciled with a requirement that AI training data be licensed under ©: "you just can't do it." Exact words:
No other way to say it; the text is out and the Hawley/Blumenthal "Cripple GenAI Act of 2025" (my title) will do *exactly* that by eviscerating fair use and gen AI training, probably unconstitutionally so. Let's break it down:🧵👀🫣
It will not surprise you that the guy who thinks every issue comes down to antitrust thinks AI policy is really about antitrust

New: Stop leading with theory. Lead with benefits. Don't tell voters you're pro-abundance; tell them their kid's asthma meds will cost less soon, there'll be a new clinic in their neighborhood, we're finally fixing the doctor shortage. That's how they begin to rebuild trust.
This is a prime example of why "anti-monopoly" groups like @econliberties and @openmarkets are better described as "anti-corporate." They *should* be against the NYC hotel cartel's ban of Airbnb, but they are silent. Likely b/c the hotel unions also lobbied for the ban.
To put a finer point on it, Trumpism = Zero-sum thinking Obamaism = Win-win thinking In the case of Trump, I blame his father, who taught young Donald that he could only win if other people lost.
This is the biggest risk we face right now:
