Oh BOY! Story time! All the way back in 2016, on our way back from Munich for a EAVP meeting, @dinosven got a mail by Georg Göltz, attached were some first images of an incredible specimen. That evening we went over the material again and again...
PALEO NEWS!!! An amazing study show us the adaptations for stealth in the flippers of Temnodontosaurus, presenting tissues that reveal how they might look like in the flesh. Paper: nature.com/articles/s4158… Discord: discord.gg/ejd7qEKFaP #dinosaurs #JurassicWorldRebirth
Como eu queria que esse estudo tivesse saído antes daquela live de 3 HORAS sobre répteis marinhos.... nooooossa como pode mano, eu ainda falei da pele desses bichos. Que azar... teria sido muito legal adicionar isso!
The first-ever soft tissues of the Jurassic megapredator, Temnodontosaurus! The winglike, metre-long flipper contains structures never seen in any animal (living or extinct) & shows this giant evolved a unique hunting behaviour. Nature: nature.com/articles/s4158…

Um novo dinossauro do Cretáceo Superior da Mongólia semelhante às aves, com mãos extremamente robustas, apoia partição de nicho entre velocirraptoríneos tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
Everyone is talking about how robust the hands are, but take a look at that skull! This is a velociraptorine? It’s fairly robust (or maybe the word is “boxy”) compared to Velociraptor’s skull.
Theropoda: Move Over, Velociraptor: it's Shri rapax time! theropoda.blogspot.com/2025/07/move-o…
Oh woah -- this fossil looks extraordinary. Shri rapax, a new, Mongolian, #Velociraptor-like dromaeosaurid with robust hands and indications of a powerful bite. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10… #dinosaurs #Cretaceous
If the teeth in the main jaws of mosasaurs weren’t terrifying enough, they had a second set called the pterygoid teeth to ensure nothing got away. #FossilFriday
The Mosasaurus in #FallenKingdom got quite a bit wrong, although it was great to see it get some screen time. Here's some of what can actually be inferred about the life appearance of large mosasaurs: -Extensive oral tissue -Small, rhomboidal scales -Streamlined body shape
Ando com um "hiperfoco" enorme em répteis marinhos ultimamente
#MosasaurMonday Did you know that we have skin impressions of Mosasaurs? This gorgeous Platecarpus specimen, on display at the @NHMLA is one that shows the texture of the skin! They had small scales not too dissimilar from living lizards.
