Former Terp Drew Nicholas has been hired as Executive Director of Player Personnel for the Boston Celtics. He spent last season as a scout for the Brooklyn Nets after two years as Director of Scouting for the Denver Nuggets.
McLaurin indicated last week that he might take this approach, telling reporters that "without any progressive discussions, it’s kind of hard to see how I step on the field." He faces fines of $50K for each day (including today) that he misses. x.com/NickiJhabvala/…
Commanders WR Terry McLaurin did not report to training camp today as he seeks a new deal with the team, per source.
Dan is one of the most talented people in sports journalism I've ever met. Whether it's through his writing, story concepts, editing or headline ideas, his creativity is limitless. Unselfishly, I'm happy for him. Selfishly, it's gonna suck not being able to call him a coworker.
Well. Tomorrow is my last day at The Washington Post. It’s been a total thrill.

Adam Peters on holdouts: "I think that's just kind of the nature of our business. Obviously you'd like to get these things done quicker, but it doesn't always happen that way. ... We're dealing with, in the case of Terry, a really good player and a really good person. ... There's…
Adam Peters on Terry McLaurin: "First, without a doubt, I think everybody in this building values Terry very much. We knew that coming in and we know that even more after spending a year with him. ... We'll do whatever we can to get a deal done."
Von Miller on choosing to sign with the Commanders: “It was the best team with the best quarterback. That’s usually the math for me to be able to go and do what I do.” “You can’t leave Josh Allen and just go anywhere.” washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/07…
Talked to Von Miller a bit after he signed his contract in Washington … washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/07…
Von Miller will wear No. 24 in Washington. He wore 58 in Denver and 40 the rest of his career. He told me he chose 24 because it had multiple meanings for him: Champ Bailey was 24, Miller is a Kobe Bryant fan and Miller wore 24 once in college, in honor of Corey Borner.
President Trump is threatening to block a new stadium deal for the Washington Commanders if the NFL team does not change their name back. Here’s what he said about President Obama in 2013:
President should not be telling the Washington Redskins to change their name-our country has far bigger problems! FOCUS on them, not nonsense
On his social media platform, the president is now saying he “may put a restriction” on the Commanders so that if they don’t change their name back to Redskins “I won’t make a deal for them to build a Stadium in Washington.”
More on interim GM Mike DeBartolo’s comments on Saturday that he wants to keep the Nats’ young core in tact. He’ll always listen to offers from teams, “but trading away our really high-quality young players is not something I’m looking to do right now.” washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/07…
On Eli Willits, who signed his $8.2 million signing bonus today and will report to West Palm Beach tomorrow: washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/07…
Interim GM Mike DeBartolo said he's looking to keep the team's young core together but said if someone calls, you listen. Asked about trading MacKenzie Gore: "I'd put him in that group in terms of our young, really talented players. That's not a focus of mine to move him."
Can confirm that Eli Willits signed with the Nationals for $8.2 million. That breaks the record for a HS player. @jimcallisMLB had it first.
If Von Miller can hit the max value (or close to it) of his deal this season, he’ll be the first defensive player in history to top $200M in career earnings, per Spotrac.
Von Miller’s 1-year deal with the Commanders is for $6.1M but worth up to $10.5M with incentives, source confirmed.
