I'll be out of the office for the rest of the day: I have a tee time. I was lucky enough to be one of the 28 winners of the Masters media lottery. Here goes nothing!
Pretty fun scene here at ACC media days, a trio of NFL legends chopping it up: Andrew Luck (Stanford GM), Ron Rivera (Cal GM), and former Panthers LB Luke Keuchly.

The Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot has turned up to ACC media days to hand out free Pop-Tarts at tonight's reception. There are definitely some flavors I've never seen before...

Power 4 commissioners still can’t agree on the makeup of an expanded College Football Playoff. From the Big Ten's media day in Vegas to the ACC's in Charlotte, here's what the power conference commissioners want out of the new CFP. By @achristovichh and @_DavidRumsey ⬇️
Power 4 commissioners still can’t agree on the makeup of an expanded College Football Playoff. At ACC media days, Jim Phillips embraced a 5+11 model. At Big Ten media days, Tony Petitti offered opposing views. DOUBLE DATELINE STORY w/ @_DavidRumsey: frontofficesports.com/power-conferen…
An honor and a privilege to work with @achristovichh on our first double byline/double dateline together for @FOS !! From Charlotte to Las Vegas, the ACC and Big Ten's differing views on CFP expansion show we're not close to a resolution. frontofficesports.com/power-conferen…
Meanwhile at Big Ten media days in Las Vegas... As expected, Tony Petitti is not backing down from his distain for the 5+11 model in a 16-team College Football Playoff. The debate continues.
Petitti on the CFP continued: "Formats that increase the discretion and role of the CFP selection committee will have a difficult time getting support from the Big Ten."
4.1 million people tuned into NBC to watch the final round of the Open Championship on Sunday, as Scottie Scheffler won his first Claret Jug, and fourth major. That's up 21% from last year's Open won by Xander Schauffele. Sunday's audience peaked at 6.1 million viewers.

ACC commissioner is bullish on the conference's future, after settling lawsuits with Florida State and Clemson. "Let’s not let a lazy narrative from a standpoint of people not moving on and understanding where we’re going." frontofficesports.com/acc-jim-philli…
SMU coach Rhett Lashlee, unprompted, says CFP expansion should coincide with all Power 4 conferences creating multiple play-in games that would revamp the standard conference championship weekend. "It would be the greatest Saturday in college football."

I've always found Ian Baker-Finch insightful and informative during golf broadcasts. Awesome run for the Aussie.
Ian Baker-Finch today announced his retirement from broadcasting golf after an incredible 30-year run, the past 19 with CBS Sports. Baker-Finch will work CBS Sports’ final two tournaments of the Network’s 2025 season, with his last broadcast coming at the Wyndham Championship…
Phillips calls out "lazy narratives" around the ACC. Touts ESPN exercising media rights option thru 2036, "which everybody said was not going to happen." "I've not felt stronger about this league than I have in the last five months. And I mean that. I'm not just saying that."
Looking back on the lawsuits with Florida State and Clemson, Jim Phillips says the settlements reached in March "provide long-term stability" for the ACC, with the "potential for all members to benefit from additional revenue opportunities."
Phillips is not in favor of college athletes being given employment status. "I haven't had one student athlete come up to me and say they want to be an employee."
Phillips: "There's not a day that I'm not engaged in discussions on the College Sports Commission, federal legislation efforts, the NCAA, or the College Football Playoff." Says he's impressed so far with new CSC CEO Bryan Seeley.
ACC commissioner Jim Phillips worries about "hastily" expanding March Madness, and thinks it would be "difficult to push it through this year." The ACC's men's basketball coaches are more in favor of expansion, while women's coaches are more against it, he says.
Phillips says he remains open to 5+9 (14 teams) and 5+11 (16 teams) formats for the CFP. "I know that there's questions about the selection committee. I had great faith and confidence in those committee members."
Regarding College Football Playoff expansion, Phillips admits there have been "some strong disagreements" among conference leaders about the format of a potential 16-team bracket.
ACC Huddle, the ACC Network's signature show, will now travel to the conference's marquee game of the week, commissioner Jim Phillips announces. Previously, the show broadcast exclusively from the weekly ACCN primetime game. First up: LSU at Clemson, Aug. 30 on ABC.
