Just received the official offer today - excited to share my personal update (some of you might already know) 😆: I'll be graduating this summer and starting my Postdoc at MIT in August, working with @Nancy_Kanwisher & @ev_fedorenko!!
Don't miss this amazing work of bilateral working memory representations of real-world objects in LOC by @wanruli_ & @bobking!
Excited to share our new paper: Spatial Reorganization of Object Representations in High-Level Visual Cortex Distinguishes Working Memory from Perception biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
NSD has profoundly shaped vision science. Inspired by it, we combined fMRI and Neuropixels to build a macaque dataset with 1,000 natural images. We’re excited to share Triple-N and welcome feedback from the community!
(1/6) Thrilled to share our triple-N dataset (Non-human Primate Neural Responses to Natural Scenes)! It captures thousands of high-level visual neuron responses in macaques to natural scenes using #Neuropixels. Link: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Exciting new preprint from the lab: “Adopting a human developmental visual diet yields robust, shape-based AI vision”. A most wonderful case where brain inspiration massively improved AI solutions. Work with @lu_zejin @martisamuser and Radoslaw Cichy arxiv.org/abs/2507.03168
📢 Introducing AutoSDT, a fully automatic pipeline that collects data-driven scientific coding tasks at scale! We use AutoSDT to collect AutoSDT-5K, enabling open co-scientist models that rival GPT-4o on ScienceAgentBench! Thread below ⬇️ (1/n)
Now out in Nature Human Behaviour @NatureHumBehav: “End-to-end topographic networks as models of cortical map formation and human visual behaviour”. Please check our NHB link: nature.com/articles/s4156…
What are the organizing dimensions of language processing? We show that voxel responses are organized along 2 main axes: processing difficulty & meaning abstractness—revealing an interpretable, topographic representational basis for language processing shared across individuals.
We are excited to share our new work on @NatureHumBehav. We used neural population geometry to analyze the population representation changes before and after learning. A new theory of manifold shrinkage is proposed and tested in both Deep Neural Networks, humans, and macaques.
Cheng et al introduce a neural geometry approach to reconcile past conflicting findings and propose a unified theory of visual perceptual learning using deep neural network modeling, human fMRI imaging, and multi-unit recordings in macaques.@ru_yuan_zhang nature.com/articles/s4156…
Also! Share my another recent preprint - We test category-selective neurons in both purely visual and visual-language models! doi.org/10.48550/arXiv…
Share the new preprint working with Yuxuan Zeng and David Osher! We demonstrate That holistic processing, commonly associated with face processing can be induced using configural, nonface stimuli! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
So excited to share our new paper in JEP:HPP @APA_Journals with former undergrad mentee @ran_mengxin and @juliedgolomb! Check how we apply a super interesting design to investigate object-location binding of a moving object!
My first paper w/ @ZitongLu & @juliedgolomb ! We shows that object identity judgments for a moving object are biased by both same exact and predictable trajectories, with object-location binding remaining primarily retinotopic—even after one saccade. psycnet.apa.org/record/2025-96…
Wow! Glad to see @ZiyaoZhangZZ did this! Hope this idea can make WM studies more ecological and more interesting 😋!
had a lot of fun at @CNSmtg! Presented our work @lewpealab on how working memory adjusts action plans in response to distractions in a 🐍 game. Got the inspiration from a chat with my friend @ZitongLu. drive.google.com/file/d/1XY_oaV…
The call is out! Up to three years of a generously funded postdoc fellowship in Israel. DM me if you'd like to work on an application together. azrielifoundation.org/azrieli-fellow…
New preprint! 🧠🤖 Brain encoding in 21 languages! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… w/ @saima_mm, @GretaTuckute, and @ev_fedorenko (1/)
🎉ScienceAgentBench is accepted at #ICLR2025! 🚀 Ready to step beyond ML R&D? Test your agents on real-world, data-driven R&D tasks across diverse scientific disciplines. 🔬 👇 Resources and previous posts below:
🚀 Can language agents automate data-driven scientific discovery? Not yet. But we're making strides. Introducing **ScienceAgentBench**: a new benchmark to rigorously evaluate language agents on 102 tasks from 44 peer-reviewed publications across 4 scientific disciplines. (1/10)
Job alert! We are now looking for a PhD student starting Sept 2025, for a project on visual relations between people and objects, using behavior, EEG, fMRI, and ANNs. Bonus: The project involves a collaboration with the brilliant @ljuba_pi. Please forward or get in touch! 🧠🎓
Thanks to all the fans who voted for me! What a day! P8!
