🚨 SOTA shape-biased ANNs, that experienced their datasets through the developing eyes of humans (from birth to 25 year olds). There's still hope for cognitive (neuro)science knowledge equipping ANNs with cool new abilities which seem elusive from the pov of ML research.
Exciting new preprint from the lab: “Adopting a human developmental visual diet yields robust, shape-based AI vision”. A most wonderful case where brain inspiration massively improved AI solutions. Work with @lu_zejin @martisamuser and Radoslaw Cichy arxiv.org/abs/2507.03168
1/3 Great job opportunity in my lab @BuschlabPsy @uni_muenster, Germany for doctoral student (3+3 years, start around Oct 2025, deadl. Apr 30) interested in developing own research project connected to our ongoing research: EEG, oscillations, visual awareness + attention + ...
We have an open PhD position in an exciting DFG-AEI project to further develop continuous psychophysics in collaboration with Joan-Lopez Moliner. More info: linkedin.com/posts/constant…
We had an awesome time discussing the role of feedback in perception @unil 🧠 and exploring the beautiful city of Lausanne! 💜🏞️ Thanks to @_TheSense_ @David__Pascucci

Go Lu!! Congratulations 💜
Honored and thrilled to receive the GGN Early Career Award @jlugiessen 🏆 Huge thanks to my awesome supervisors Daniel @DKaiserlab & @MariusPeelen, all my collaborators, and the amazing colleagues from both labs — couldn’t have done it without you! 💗
All-topographic ANNs! Now out in @NatureHumBehav, led by @lu_zejin, in collaboration with @TimKietzmann See below for a summary👇
Now out in Nature Human Behaviour @NatureHumBehav: “End-to-end topographic networks as models of cortical map formation and human visual behaviour”. Please check our NHB link: nature.com/articles/s4156…
Don’t miss out again! If you are interested in our studies presented at @VSSMtg , you can find our posters here: 👇 drive.google.com/drive/mobile/f…
Kaiser Lab goes #Exzellenz! The excellence cluster „The Adaptive Mind“ got funding for the next 7 years! Proud to be part of this awesome team and looking forward to all the exciting research to come. 🎆✨🥂

#VSS2025 was a blast - great science, fun people, beach vibes. We‘ll be back! @VSSMtg

How fast do we extract distance cues from scenes 🛤️🏞️🏜️ and integrate them with retinal size 🧸🐻 to infer real object size? Our new EEG study in Cortex has answers! w/@DKaiserlab @SuryaGayet @MariusPeelen Check it out: doi.org/10.1016/j.cort…
I’m excited to announce that I’m recruiting for a fully-funded 3.5-year PhD position in my lab in Southampton (UK). For details and to apply, see here: southampton.ac.uk/study/postgrad…
Time to celebrate a new ANR-DFG funded project in collaboration with the stellar @DKaiserlab Stay totally tuned!!! 😎
Glad to share our EEG study now is out in JNP. 🎉 We showed that alpha rhythms automatically interpolate occluded motion based on the surrounding contextual cues! 🚶♂️🏞️ @DKaiserlab @maxbardelang 👇journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.11…

Wanna know about sensory & memory representations in visual cortex? After integrating the wisdom from several reviewers (and clever comments from 2 more reviewers at #elife still to go), this paper is now officially out: elifesciences.org/reviewed-prepr… (tweeprint below)
Are memories noisier versions of what we perceive? Fundamentally different? Seriously, think about it… Early visual cortex processes what we see around us, but also has information about images briefly held in mind. The two must be different… but how? TWEEPRINT ALERT! 🚨 🧵1/n
