Jim Haber
@Yeastdoc1
I study genetics and molecular biology related to the repair of broken chromosomes, using --- you guessed it --- yeast. Also tweet (rarely) as @haberlab.
Excited to see @Haberlab receive lifetime achievement award from the @GeneticsGSA yeast community & hear his greatest hits from former trainee Gonen Memisoglu Jim previously won the 2011 Thomas Hunt Morgan medal proving he has done enough good science to win 2 lifetime awards!!!
Ok was honored to present a lifetime achievement award talk at the terrific TAGC genetics meeting in DC

I was thrilled to learn I received the Yeast Genetics Meeting Lifetime Achievement Award! genetics-gsa.org/tagc-2024/yeas…
Last werkend my lab alumni gathered to celebrate 50 years at Brandeis and 80 years on earth.

I just signed a @commoncause petition: PROTECT the Office of Congressional Ethics. Sign here: act.commoncause.org/petitions/prot… Not that the bozos will listen.
2/3 but I can’t say this with the same level of confidence but… 3. No question the there are more scrabble variants in this rise: BQ.1 and 1.1 especially 4. So we’ll need to take this seriously as we head into Christmas and holiday parties and gatherings. 5. So what to do?

Excited to share our article published in @plosgenetics: journals.plos.org/plosgenetics/a… #plosgeneticsauthor. With Eric Greene’s lab we resolve an apparent difference between in vitro and in vivo studies, showing a high tolerance for mismatches in 100-bp regions during recombination
I put some effort into writing a MOLECULAR CELL spotlight - an appreciation of David Pellman lab’s demonstration that ADAR causes chromosome breaks in micronuclei. sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Three weeks later I got the stats that it had been read 12 times and downloaded 10 Nope
Is this simply explained by transcription coupled repair? Probably not. iflscience.com/plants-and-ani…
A remarkably personalized Google page with our jusy-published Nature paper
