Yankees are keeping Scherzer around after a good 1st inning.
If the Yankees aren’t going the Suarez route, I’d take McMahon or Castro. McMahon would add a little SLG and defense. Anything but Hayes. McMahon:

Schlittler will need to learn to expand the zone as he develops — he’s yet to work down in the zone in either of his first two starts.

Schlittler held it together against a tough lineup. The Jays came into today with a 17.5 K% so there was going to be plenty of contact. He didn’t break.
Sticking with this take. Let the Rice cook.
Ben Rice is everything we wanted Greg Bird to be so far. (Small sample size but who cares)
The Yankees hang on for a big win. Rice comes through with a clutch home run.
Devin Williams always looks like he has the bases loaded. Show some confidence.
We talked about Rice’s need to add a little more distance to the ball a few days ago. patreon.com/posts/bad-luck…

The formula: 1. Don’t let Judge beat you 2. Stay close 3. Let the Yankee beat themselves in the 5th-9th (bullpen and defense)
I don’t think Loaisiga should hold a roster spot on this team moving forward. Anyone is an improvement, much like the third base situation.
That’s the second error Volpe has made with Hill pitching. First one was on 4/30 vs. the O’s where his error cost them a crucial run.
Volpe is now at 7 high impact errors on the year. We shared this earlier: patreon.com/posts/13471021…
Anthony Volpe’s error breakdown this year. High Impact Errors: 6 (impacted the result of the game) Potential High Impact Errors: 4 (did not influence game but had the potential) We also have situational breakdowns for each error and video links in the link below:…
Morton stock is definitely rising. He looks a lot more consistent of late.
Charlie Morton would be an interesting acquisition. He's made some good starts since mid-May. Not sure if the O's would deal with the Yankees.
Sigh...
How does Cody Bellinger not get an AB in this game? Biggest series of the year and the man has a 148 wRC+ since May 1st. Speechless
Morton is a good secondary option for the Yankees if they are unable to land any of the bigger names on the market. A ton of big game experience as well.
Teams love Charlie Morton — who has a very positive postseason history and who’s been solid following a slow start — and he’s drawing a lot of interest on the trade market. Many teams inquiring.
Spencer Jones with a nice AB and walk. They tried to get him to expand the zone but he had a patient approach.
