which kinda sucks because the writing behind my literal favorite character is something I already dont talk about enough
you can’t really reduce low support needs/verbal autism to being simply socially awkward though. yes in some ways you can learn how to perform better socially but that’s masking & leads to burnout. autism at its core is a processing disorder. it goes way beyond social faux pas.
People need to realize that unless u are severely (like non verbal) autistic, being “socially awkward” is something you can fix with practice. Social skills are like any skills: some people are born w natural ability, most people have to learn thru practice
