Working to Cycle, Cycling to Work
@WorkingToCycle
Commuting to work through the busy streets of Chester to afford my cycling addiction.
Maybe the caption could have read, “Active travel restricted due to actions of drivers unable to navigate a simple sweeping bend onto Grosvenor bridge causing years of disruption.” Hope ALL of these costs are being recovered from their insurance companies.
Path around the racecourse closed for 7 weeks for repair and strengthening works to the bridge.
Fettle didn’t last long, at least we still have Bren Bikes and The Bike Factory, plus the big groups like Evans and Halfords. @ShitChester

Bank Holiday Monday quiz. This gap leads to the Greenway, but from which road?
Top tip! If you are going to drive your 4 wheeled shitbox down a one way street shaking your head at a cyclist riding towards you, perhaps be sure that they arent in a cycle lane that allows them to ride the street in the opposing direction. That way you wont look such a pleb!
The council will be turning off the traffic lights and installing a temporary pedestrian crossing on St Oswald way to monitor effects on traffic and to help pedestrians and cyclists. Do you think this will make Fountains roundabout safer for cyclists? …ea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%…
🚦 A new scheme to improve Fountains Roundabout in Chester for both motorists and pedestrians will be trialled next week, from Monday 12 May the existing traffic signals will be switched off to assess how the junction operates for all road users 👉 cwac.co/2q7UY
Driver completely confused by new road markings and traffic signal layout, misses 2 stop lines and stops across the cycle crossing waiting for the strangely positioned 3rd traffic signal in this layout. Why is that additional traffic signal there?

Work party yesterday on the cycle path at the side of the Tarvin roundabout. Over the years grass had encroached onto the track, halving its usable width. A couple of hours of hard work it is now back to original size! Thanks to Hannah and Garrett from Streetcare at CWAC
👏 A big thank you to volunteers from Chester Cycling Campaign, who worked with our Your Streets team on the A51 in Littleton to clear back vegetation and mud to widen the footpath to make room for both cyclists and pedestrians again 👉 cwac.co/rZ8eK @chester_cycling
Cyclists be aware: sudden drop in road surface from poor quality utility work. Highways are aware and will hopefully force original contractors to fix asap.
Unfortunately what we have too many of is careless drivers.
Our cities do not need driverless cars. They desperately need more carless drivers! —Struin BSO in #Nijmegen
@RantyHighwayman here in Chester’s we are losing ASLs when traffic lights are being refurbished. Have we missed some change in the rules? Can you have an ASL without a feeder lane? Grateful if anyone knows the answer
The Lower Bridge Street junction in Chester is now fully open, three days ahead of schedule 👉 cwac.co/g30Oa
Planning application being made to turn the Lloyds buildings into apartments. CCC are keen that the application should include making good of the low traffic route along Charterhall Drive to access the station. We are approaching local councillors
Good to see the bike racks well used on a sunny day @shitchester
