Why is no-one eating the mousseline of duck?
A thread 🧵of various YouTube bits and bobs that I've found interesting, hopefully to be added to indefinitely (if no doubt erratically).

The fact that we've had MPs breezily pumping out rhetorical victory laps about how great it is and how there are no downsides or risks whatsoever at exactly the moment that catastrophic privacy-shattering data leaks are taking place stateside is almost too heavy-handed for satire
The biggest problem is that it seems like yet another case where MPs are determinedly shouldering their way through to passing sweeping legislation in very complicated areas that it's horribly apparent neither they nor much of the civil service actually understands.

I see that while I’ve been on holiday everyone has realised the Online Safety Act is an absolute shitshow.
MPs deserve to be held in contempt for their behaviour over the murder of Sir David Amess. One of their own slain by a UK-born Muslim extremist and, rather than face up to that, they tried to convince us it was about social media. Wrote this at the time: thecritic.co.uk/islamism-not-s…
Remember when an MP was murdered by an Islamist, and rather than talk about the ideology and policies that enabled his murder Conservative MPs had the audacity to propose "David's Law" banning online anonymity?

This deliberate fantasy horseshit just makes its exponents look like mendacious fools.
Museums Galleries Scotland has responded to the EHRC Consultation. It is concerned that the interim guidance is not in the “spirit of inclusion”. It is also worried about the “1.1 million intersex people in the UK”. museumsassociation.org/museums-journa…
I mean, in fairness there are plenty of Brits, including in the politics and commentariat field, who will talk about Trump taking America fascist but who won't be thinking twice about going on holiday there. Cuts both ways, I think.
So having told us that Britain no longer has free speech and is being wrecked by immigration, Vance and Trump both choose to spend their holidays here. What is this? Disaster tourism?

Unpopular view, but entirely true. The UK has little to add to European land forces, and shouldn't try to match Germany, Finland, let alone Poland....
Honestly: It'd be by far more helpful if the UK focused on getting the RN back in shape instead of beefing up the british army...
So much to unpack here. The pointless "Stop Trump|Free Gaza" signs. Up to £1,000 a round at his course. The Scottish government spaffing £180,000 towards a tournament at one of his other courses. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
If you were actually "minded to drag" the people responsible for Islamist terrorism in Britain "kicking and screaming" to Parliament, you wouldn't need to go to America. But actually confronting imported extremism is complicated, so Westminster went for censorship laws instead.

You refused @DavidLammy to summon the Chinese Ambassador when the Chinese Govt last put bounties on the heads of Hong Kongers in the UK and delivered kidnap instructions to their neighbours on British streets. You’re angry when the CCP continues in the face of your feebleness?
I condemn the further arrest warrants and bounties that the Hong Kong authorities have placed on individuals overseas. We will continue to stand by the people of Hong Kong, including those living in the UK. Joint statement with @YvetteCooperMP: gov.uk/government/new…
Thatcherism stands for sound finance; it stands for honest money, not inflation; it stands for living within your means; it stands for incentives, because we know full well that the economic strength of a nation comes from the efforts of its people, and its people need incentives…
Violent people do violent things.
