Fire cause and origin: Investigators determined the cause of the SRO fire this afternoon on E Hastings was caused by this locking butane torch igniting a mattress. Numerous torches found on scene.

This morning at 6:11am firefighters responded to multiple calls for a fire in an alley extending to a house under construction. The speed and hard work of firefighters saved the house and prevented further damage. Fire was deemed incendiary (intentionally set).

We are deeply saddened from the loss of two Coeur d’Alene firefighters. Our hearts and thoughts are with the firefighters, their families, first responders and community.
