Let’s all remember that the apartment-dwelling French are whooping our suburban American asses on urbanism and birth rate fronts, but great cities and demographic stability are ours whenever we want to get serious about investing in family-friendly density.

Having a spouse who is a frequent flier for work sucks except when you’re traveling together and get to hang out in the united club
Leipzig, Germany, shows that when we stack apartments, join them wall to wall, and build them right up to the property line ...
Build courtyard blocks so they don't tear down your city neighborhood for a motorway.
Idk personally I would be fine with greening half of any Chicago arterial and doing a grassy tram in lieu of bus
Trams on grass, Reims edition.
Smoking isn’t the only problem on the CTA. Riders deal w/drug use, violence, & unsafe conditions daily. If we want people to rely on public transit, we need a serious plan to make it clean, safe, & functional again. Reliability? Taipei, Taiwan has a 99.999% reliability rate.
Enough is enough: the smoking on our public transit system has to stop. My administration is bringing the full-force of government to create a safe and smoke-free CTA.

It’s great to hear Mayor Johnson finally wants to address smoking on the CTA with... social workers, a PR campaign, & community meetings? Without data-driven enforcement of existing laws (like I called for last month), this public health issue will continue to impact riders.
Even our pre-car/war neighborhoods don’t have good mixed-use apartment buildings like this, right? As far as I know, maybe excepting a FEW neighborhoods in NYC, American legacy neighborhoods don’t begin to approach the walkability and convenience of mixed-use euro city centers.…

At one of the walk-to bars in my Chicago neighborhood, there are games like battleship and uno for kids to play while adults enjoy unmediated conversation with each other
They’re both right. Wilcox is right that parents are happier for having children. @Aella_Girl is right that labor- and cost-saving advances of society have not extended to childbearing. And child rearing is likely harder today with greater female workforce participation (a…
