Thank you so much to @sinnfeinireland MPs discussing meeting with our community foodbanks to hear about our Guarantee Our Essentials campaign and the local issues each constituency foodbank face.

Hunger is not a food problem, it is an income problem- it’s not bad budgeting - people simply do not have enough to cover their essentials and this is unconscionable! ‘No respite for consumer' as food prices remain 'stubbornly high in NI’. bbc.com/news/articles/…
‼️The UK government has pushed through huge cuts to Universal Credit for disabled people applying in the future. Our Policy Manager @ayaz_manji explains what you need to know ⤵️
We applaud the power of disabled people, food banks, and people like you who have used your voices to stand up for disabled people. The remaining cuts to disability support are very concerning. But you helped make huge improvements to the Welfare Bill. 💚
If the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill proceeds, it will plunge a further 15,000 NI disabled people into hunger and hardship. Thank you to all NI MPs who have taken a stance and supported the amendment to stop it! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Yesterday was a historic moment for @TrussellUK Together, 700 people travelled to Westminster to discuss Guarantee Our Essentials. The same day the UK gov proposed the most damaging cuts to disabled people, we were proud that so many NI MPs supported us! trussell.org.uk/news-and-resea…
Today we joined @TrussellUK as part of a lobby to increase the inadequate amount of UC. Thanks to @columeastwood for his ongoing support, meeting & taking us on tour. We presented Colum with a signed letter from groups across Derry asking him to support the increase of UC
Great to see cross party support for @#GuaranteeOurEssentials campaign. Hunger is not a food problem it is an income problem - we want to make sure people afford the essentials and no longer make choices between heating and eating.
📢 9.3 million people are facing hunger and hardship in the UK! We support @trusselluk and @jrf_uk & 100s of people at @UKParliament today calling on MPs to Guarantee our Essentials. Here's why it matters: bit.ly/3FEZKnK #EssentialsGuarantee
@TrussellUK Lobby Day has just gotten very real very quickly- 750 people are speaking with over 300 MPs to lobby for the guarantee that everyone can afford the essentials. @Trussell_NI
Food banks from across NI are on their way to Westminster today to call for an Essentials Guarantee within Universal Credit. 💚 Food banks are being pushed to the brink. Our social security system should at least support people to afford the essentials. We need MPs to act!
Thank you to @UTVNews for shining a light on the devastating impact the proposed UK Disability Benefit Cuts will have. 15,000 households in NI will face hunger and hardship as a direct result. This is a political choice and the UK Gov are gambling with vulnerable people’s lives!
Thank you so much @patcullen9 for meeting Dungannon Foodbank. Important conversations on local issues, disability benefit cuts and support for our Guarantee Our Essentials Campaign. The hard work continues to end the need for emergency food banks in NI.

Make no mistake, the UK government's proposed changes in PIP, if passed, will condemn hundreds of thousands of people to severe hardship and pile the pressure on food banks across the country, which are already stretched to breaking point! belfastlive.co.uk/news/northern-…
Privileged to be attending @NIAntiPov AGM , Particularly DPAC activist @EllenClifford1 and the NIAPN lived experience panel reflecting messages- a postcode campaign to MPs -‘if this (cut) goes ahead the most vulnerable people will be the worst affected-it’s an absolute disgrace!’

Our latest figures on parcels provided by the @TrussellUK community bear this out - 2.9m in 24/25, still at extraordinarily high levels even with other providers also picking up the pieces
The UK is among the worst nations in Europe for child poverty. In the UK, 11% of 15-year-olds reported they had skipped a meal in 2022 because there wasn't enough money to buy food. In the Netherlands and Finland, this number was 3%.
Parents shouldn't have to skip meals to feed their children. Families shouldn't have to go without a warm home. Parents shouldn't have to make impossible decisions between buying nappies or food. In fact, no one should be facing hunger and hardship. Period.
There is no one type of person who needs to use a food bank, & often people feel stigmatised if they do. We say we are here for you with a warm welcome! A massive thank you to our Advocate Deirdre, who was brave enough to share her experience. 🔗bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Foodbank need in NI has increased by 68% since 2019/2020. It’s clear people aren’t receiving enough income to live on and that needs to change. Check our recommendations for the NI Executive to see how they can take the steps to eradicate poverty 👉 #Trussell #Foyle…
