A question at the @APPGCW bike ride asked if hire e-bikes could move to distance not time based pricing to discourage red light jumping. A suggestion to resolve this: develop technology to recognise red lights, and remove the power assist for a minute after every red light jump.
Memo to public realm designers. Build the desire line first time around - save time and money later...

Hey @TfL the logging you out problem with the Santander Cycles app still doesn't seem to be fixed - what is going on? When is this going to be fixed? x.com/ToryCycling/st…
Very annoying problem with the Santander Cycle Hire app - logs you out and requires two tries to log in again - @TfL - when is the ETA for a fix? - been going on for weeks now. reddit.com/r/london/comme…
Excited to launch the @activetraveleng Junior Inspectors scheme with @Chris_Boardman & @JoshDeanMP. Kids will be able to audit their school run, giving feedback via an app, creating safer, greener routes - boosting health, cutting congestion & supporting our Plan for Change.🚶♀️🚲

Mayors across England are committing to getting 20m people more active by creating more than 3500 miles of safer walking, wheeling and cycling routes. Including transforming the school run. Find out more 👉 activetravelengland.gov.uk/news/englands-…
Great to see Conservative Mayor @paulbristow79 supporting ambitious plans for 3,500 miles of safer routes for cycling and walking and increases in active travel journeys. gov.uk/government/new…
A very good question - why would we charge VAT on the most sustainable transport option? x.com/thomasforth/st…
I'm on team #VATOnEverything but it's a bit surprising that train and bus tickets don't have VAT on but cycle hire does.

While any movement to restrict pedicabs in @CityWestminster is welcome, the real solution is that @TfL actually bring forward the long overdue licencing regime. taxi-point.co.uk/post/westminst…
Transport technology is moving so fast now we need to revamp vehicle regulations: Facilitating micro electric cars, low speed electric mopeds, autonomous delivery and taxis could reduce full size motor vehicles in urban areas and help cycling and walking. x.com/lara_e_brown/s…
We could fix this immediately by fully automating food delivery using robots. But because of the Highways Act of 1835 (intended to ban carriages from pavements but applied to robots) this is prohibited apart from under tiny pilot schemes.

Always thought it quite ridiculous how Santander Cycles go no further north than the Regent's Park.
🚴♂️ Pedalling Progress in Parliament! 🚶♀️ Last week, I had the pleasure of joining the @APPGCW 2025 Parliamentary Bike Ride - a brilliant way to kickstart the day and champion active travel! We were led by Lillian Greenwood MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the…
Tom - one of the (many) issues with the ill-conceived plans on Oxford Street is that they will push more traffic through the areas around the street, including #Soho, as well as #Fitzrovia, #Mayfair and #Marylebone. The opposite of what it sounds like you want to see. Businesses…
Nice! Now do Soho!
This is the area around Oxford St the Mayor wants to take control of. He can remove buses, cycles, cars and taxis from Oxford St, but will have no control over where they go instead, or wider area traffic reduction. This isn't a plan for a better West End, its a recipe for chaos.

A much lower traffic West End would be great for cycling, walking and its nationally significant role. But the mayor's plan can't make this happen - he won't control a wide enough area, he can't reduce traffic and buses have nowhere else to go. standard.co.uk/news/london/ox…
