Have data with a bunch of covariates. Does it matter which you include? (Hint: yes!) How do you know what to include? @gangchen6 and Zhengchen Cai lead us into the realm of causal inference modeling, with a handy guideline list. I hope this becomes a bigger topic in the field!

Preprint alert! 🚨 "The Advantage of Big Team Science: Lessons Learned from Cognitive Science." osf.io/preprints/osf/… Our heart beats for BTS. It can improve science by addressing issues like low statistical power and the lack of diversity in past research.

Can you share #dataviz examples where the designer missed the audience by a mile? too technical? too unconventional? too much detail? Please share!
If you put the audience first right from the start—even before you begin to prepare—the issue becomes much less about you saving time and more about respecting *their* time and creating something of lasting value for *them.* (garrreynolds.com/preparation-ti…)
@ LingTweeps: Did ynyone come across cumulative probit (not logit) models in linguistics? Trying to cite some folks, cannot imagine I am the first to analyse ordinal data assuming they are derived from a latent continuous variable. @jvcasill @StefanoCoretta @BodoWinter?

@ Linguists: What are your top arguments against the claim that "constituent structure" is universal, i.e. that all languages combine words into larger phrases. Non-configurational languages would be one. But is there even good evidence for its psychological reality in English?
We have received several interesting proposals for our 1st call "Replicating Experimental Linguistic Phenomena across ManyLanguages". We are now looking for reviewers, particularly experimental syntacticians who have exp with non-WEIRD populations. Get in touch, if that is you!
Looking for a real-world example of interpreting the standard deviation of a distribution that non-experts can appreciate. Extra points for societal relevance.
