Despite perfect pollinator monitoring conditions, bumblebees very scared today even in fields with plenty forage. On the positive side, two great yellow queens were recorded at one site.

Lovely to see Northern colletes today on Mullet peninsula on our first day monitoring for @LIFEonMachair. A ground-nesting solitary bee, restricted to coastal habitats such as dunes and machair. Ireland holds up to 90% of the remaining populations of the bee in the Atlantic zone
