Delighted to find my first Calliphora uralensis, I have previously been sent samples from Skellig Micheal Island in Co Kerry. This female was collected from Port Mor Sand Dunes, Belmullet Peninsula, Co Mayo, Republic of Ireland (20.vii.2025).

Great yellow bumblebees were scarce enough during our Mullet peninsula bioblitz last weekend, but good to see a few workers on the wing. It is vital that we continue to monitor this rare species. Every sighting gives us more information. #lbaf #biodiversityMayo #NPWS #MayoCoCo

Great to have Ryan and Owen's expertise over the weekend. We learnt lots.
A brilliant weekend at the Belmullet Peninsula Bioblitz exploring many excellent habitats and met many great and enthusiastic ecologists and like-minded people. I finally got to see Bombus distinguendus, which was a treat! We should have an excellent species list between us all.
Special thanks to @RyanM_Sussex and Owen Beckett for teaching us so much about hoverflies today at the Mullet Peninsula Bioblitz. Scaeva pytastri is a new record for the Mullet 🙂
