From Lappin To Stape: A Coronation Street Journey
@TheRedRec
Join me as I watch Coronation Street in order from the very first episode in 1960 to the aftermath of the tram crash in 2011. Get it? Got it? Good.
Yes, the couple that has been together a year, if that, are entirely responsible for the success of a 65 year old TV show. People outside of the UK had never heard of Coronation Street before Sw*rla. Ken Barlow who? It's all about Swain. And it always has been.
Swarla is the reason why your soap is even being watched and discussed on 7 continents. ITV knows this and takes full advantage of the gay following. Blame them, not the fans.
#OnThisDay 25 July 1973 in #CoronationStreet. Elsie Howard takes in the sights of London - Baker Street, Oxford Street, red double deckers, Pentonville Prison, and then gets knocked down by a black cab! 5 minutes of the episode is genuinely taken up with her silently walking!

Episode 16: 01/02/1969 Residents of the street prepare to bed down in the mission hall for the night, much to the chagrin of Ena, who does all she can to make it an uncomfortable stay for everyone. Swindley takes her to task once again for frequenting the Rovers.
It’s ok I read the article so you don’t have to, it’s Ena Sharples x

Episode 12: 18/01/1961 Arnold and Elsie reminisce about happier times, but it doesn’t take long for the mood to turn sour. Meanwhile, Ena and Martha finally bury the hatchet, and Christine receives a letter from a friendly plumber regarding an unpaid bill.
A bit of 1960s Coronation Street gold here. Mrs Sharples is canvassed by each of the three parties and invites them back to discuss things in depth later that night…at the same time.
Episode 11: 13/01/1961 Elsie’s newspaper ad is the talk of the street, peaking when she marches into the Rovers snug and begins one of the first of many legendary rows between her and Ena. Meanwhile, Albert resists calls to move in with his daughter following a health scare.
Coronation Street - 14th July 1976. Hilda shows the “muriel” off to Annie and Bet.
Episode 10: 11/01/1961 Elsie gets word of Ena spreading gossip about her and Arnold so puts a notice in the local paper threatening legal action against anyone slandering her. Meanwhile, Harry takes Concepta to a dance and Christine hits money trouble.
