Episode 12: 18/01/1961 Arnold and Elsie reminisce about happier times, but it doesn’t take long for the mood to turn sour. Meanwhile, Ena and Martha finally bury the hatchet, and Christine receives a letter from a friendly plumber regarding an unpaid bill.
Episode 11: 13/01/1961 Elsie’s newspaper ad is the talk of the street, peaking when she marches into the Rovers snug and begins one of the first of many legendary rows between her and Ena. Meanwhile, Albert resists calls to move in with his daughter following a health scare.
Episode 1: 09/12/1960 We meet the greats; Ena Sharples sans-hairnet, the back of Elsie Tanner’s head and Lyn Paul, later of New Seekers fame, playing outside the shop. Some of the introductions are a bit forced, but Tony had to work on the basis he was only getting 13 episodes.

Rummaging through today's (24th July 1966) Sunday Mirror television postbag, there's bouquets for Doris Speed ("an excellent actress") and brickbats for Till Death Us Do Part ("the nastiest, most rude serial BBC has televised").
She was brilliant opposite Doris Speed. The effort the pair put into coming out on top was fantastic, and very funny.

#OnThisDay 21 July 1988 DEAD END STREET #CoronationStreet hit a dead end yesterday as thousands stayed away from its grand public opening. The TV theme park is designed to attract 5,000 telly addicts a day. But only 40 people turned up to see #DorisSpeed perform the opening . . .

#OnThisDay 16 July 1966 John Bratby's controversial #CoronationStreet painting, commissioned by the TV Times, goes on exhibition at Southampton Art Gallery for a month from today. At other provincial galleries where it has been shown, attendances have trebled.
