🚨Second study from the lab. @CellReports SARS-CoV- and SARS-CoV-2-like viruses are found in insectivorous bats, but the antiviral responses in these bats remain less studied. Here we show how bat cells respond to SARS-CoV-2 and shed light on virus entry. cell.com/cell-reports/f…
2 in a row in the @JVirology. A new paper from our group & the new Johnson lab at UTMB. Here, we find multiple different variant mutations in the SR rich domain of N facilitate improved infection of #SARS2. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/jv…
Our new paper on #SARS2 furin cleavage site is now out at @JVirology. Study examines disruption (rather than deletion) of the FCS & maintains the longer S1/S2 loop. FCS disruption attenuates pathogenesis but not required (but helps) transmission. tinyurl.com/3z5b6ddk

H1N1-immune ferrets also had H5N1 virus in organs outside the respiratory tract + less H5N1 virus in nasal secretions and the respiratory tract than naive ferrets. H1N1-immune ferrets produced antibodies that cross-reacted with H5N1 NA. 👉wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/31…
