Finished the secular based series on gnosticism today and I feel I have a much more clear understanding of the religious aspect of progressivism now.

So far the main takeaway that I have really understood is that gnostics are like the original conspiracy theorists. Obsessed with secret knowledge but it seems they just sort of invent stuff along the way or borrow it elsewhere when the narrative falls apart.
