The Black Caucus
@TheBlackCaucus
The Conscience of the Congress since 1971 ✊🏿. Advocating for issues important to Black Americans.
I promised these kids of unjustly fired federal workers that I will not stop fighting for them. I'm proud to stand up for public servants at CDC, USAID, and Department of State, who for so long have done the invisible work keeping our country safe, secure, and more prosperous.
This week the @HouseGOP slashed funds for public broadcasting, hurting communities across America. @abbydphillip @CNN Watch: youtu.be/ay1a8kenKbc
The @HouseGOP continue to enable @POTUS, even when it comes to the Epstein files. @abbydphillip @CNN Watch: youtu.be/ay1a8kenKbc
House Democrats are focused on fixing a broken system to make life more affordable for everyday Americans. The one big ugly bill instead prioritizes massive tax breaks for billionaires. Shame on these extremists.
In a sad display of blatant racism, the U.S. Department of Justice is recommending only ONE day in prison as punishment for Brett Hankison—one of the detectives involved in the tragic and senseless killing of innocent Breonna Taylor, shot dead in cold-blood in her home, in 2020,…
This administration has continued to show that they’re not working for ordinary people. Adding medical debt BACK on to credit reports is just the latest example. You shouldn't be denied a home loan because you couldn't pay an emergency medical bill.
The NAACP mourns the loss of Congressman William Lacy “Bill” Clay Sr., a trailblazing champion of civil rights, workers’ rights, and political inclusion. As Missouri’s first Black congressman and a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Congressman Clay fearlessly…
5 years ago we lost an American hero, but the spirit of John Lewis will live on forever. I felt John with me as I marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge this year, the same bridge he marched on Bloody Sunday - courageously marching for voting rights. We will keep marching.
Five years ago, we lost my friend and colleague John Lewis. Knowing what’s right isn’t enough—we must act. That’s why I co-sponsored the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act & Break The Cycle of Violence Act. Let’s legislate. Let’s act. Let’s get in #GoodTrouble. #JohnLewis
I’m remembering our beloved friend and colleague, Congressman John R. Lewis, on this fifth anniversary of his passing. As we face our existential battle to keep the rights John devoted his life to give us, may we draw strength from his memory and find inspiration in his courage.
It is with deep respect and profound sadness that we mourn the passing of former Congressman Bill Clay Sr. — a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus. May he rest in peace.

The time to prevent Medicaid cuts was when you were drafting the bill. Those cuts passed with your support.
Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., introduces a new bill to repeal some of the Medicaid cuts in Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill, which he voted for. "Now is the time to prevent any future cuts to Medicaid from going into effect," Hawley says. Full text 👇
I walked out. Senate Republicans just proved they are only here for the bidding of Donald Trump. SHAMEFUL
Trump’s nominee for Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services thinks women only have value if they "raise children" and "propagate the species." It’ll be a no from me.
Today, we honor the birthday of Philando Castile. Known as “Mr. Phil” to students and “Chedda” to friends, he was loved deeply by his community. Philando Castile should be celebrating today – we’re committed to investing in public safety initiatives that prevent these tragedies.
Crockett: "I need people of color to understand that the scheme of the Republicans has consistently been to make sure that they mute our voices. I fully anticipate that's where they are going with this map."
.@HASCRepublicans still refuse to hold @SecDef Hegseth accountable for Signal. He risked our national security. This is what happens when unqualified people lead.
I shared a story that my friend John Lewis included in "Walking in the Wind: A Memoir of the Movement" during the @TheBlackCaucus Special Order Hour. John taught me so much, including: The storm always passes, and the sun always comes out. He served We the People, and we must…
“When you see something that is not right, you must say something. You must do something. Democracy is not a state. It is an act…” Those words of the late John Lewis are as relevant now as they’ve ever been. Tonight @TheBlackCaucus remembered the conscience of the Congress. 🕊️
