Heat Advisories now include central Kentucky and areas north and west. Heat indices are expected to reach 100-105 degrees every day through Wednesday.
Rounds of storms roll in from the northwest this afternoon through Monday. Some of these may be strong or severe with damaging winds the primary threat. The potential for flash flooding continues to increase and we have a Flood Watch for most of central & eastern Kentucky. #kywx
🌡️Humidity will remain high as temperatures increase, which will lead to heat indices in the 105-110F range later this week.
⛈️Showers and storms (some strong) will continue to push through the region today bringing heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding.
The Weather Prediction Center has upgraded much of central and western Kentucky to a Moderate Risk of flash flooding this afternoon and evening. There are still no Flood Watches for our region. Pretty big disconnect between NOAA agencies right now. #kywx
A significant flash flooding risk persists for the rest of the day, especially west of Lexington. Please stay alert for any flooding issues that may happen in the next few hours.
The WPC says areas of 5"+ may show up in a few areas. Ugh.
