On @edvaizey hosting Politics Unpacked yesterday - me and Michael Binyon. We covered a lot - doctors’ strikes, musical avatars (they’d both been to ABBA Voyage, I haven’t) recognising statehood of Palestine (me &. Michael in favour). And online safety. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/pol…
Breaking News: President Emmanuel Macron said France would recognize the state of Palestine, making it the first of the G7 nations to do so. nyti.ms/3GVjhkQ
This call for recognition of Palestinian statehood has support of many others in Labour including me.
This week over 60 Labour MPs signed a joint letter to the Foreign Secretary, with many other MPs continuing to add their name or sending the same letter privately. Full letter and signatories here:
It’s all music this weekend. Opening night of @bbcproms on Friday a total joy. Weekend rehearsing beautiful music for two clarinets and cello - an under-explored, glorious combination. And now back off to @RoyalAlbertHall for @BSOrchestra Prom, listen on @BBCRadio3

I can testify to this!

I hope the Assisted Dying Bill is “completely different”. It should not have passed as it was drafted but that’s for others to wrestle with - and justify. We shouldn’t have sent a Bill to be “improved” or “corrected” to the House of Peers. We should have done it.
NEW: Tonia Antoniazzi won a landmark vote to decriminalise abortion. She talks to @siennamarla about being painted ‘as a monster’, and how the assisted dying bill she co-sponsors ‘may look like a completely different bill’ after changes in the Lords: politicshome.com/news/article/t…
Proud and a little emotional to listen to the Best Start education statement in the House of Lords last night. Time to rebuild the support that children and families so desperately need & a generation of children have tragically missed out on.
In which I chat with two other musicians about music of all kinds, about joy, about what music to run to, about the value of arts in dealing with grief, about how arts organisations can make their political case, and more. So it’s not short! podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/thr…
