Beautiful morning. Hoping to make it over to Peasholm later for the naval battle, where grown humans lie down in mini warships and shoot at each other.

An overcast evening so a selection of floral arrangements on the Esplanade to brighten things up

My pic n mix filling technique, honed in Woolworths in 1988, remains elite.

Was not expecting a warm-up act for the naval battle, never mind one who does a passionate speech about how wonderful Scarborough is followed by an emotional set-list of indie classics.
Happy to live in a town where this summer’s concerts include both Will Smith and “Just Trev”.

Essential after-work beach time. Seagull guarding someone’s excellent “let’s just dig a big hole” hole.

We need a grown-up conversation about the triple lock (and sensible media reporting to avoid stoking up fire and brimstone). Hope that the announcement of the pensions review today will start that process, so we can get closer to intergenerational fairness.
The triple lock increased by - or above inflation or 2.5% - during a decade of record low inflation. It then increased by 10.1% in one year alone (2022) then by 8.5% in 2023…it had done its work in the 2010-2020 period and still the #greyvote demands more …
Still some misty sea spray but the intense fog has lifted at last

Radio 2 playing the chart from 1993 zooms me right back to by 12th birthday in the garden. Parents hired one of those velcro walls you throw yourself at. Can even remember what I wore (heavy on the lilac denim).
Another steamy evening. Puzzled holidaymakers peering out from the Esplanade “I think I can just about make out the sea”.
