Tennis Updates

I post updates on both WTA and ATP events. PFP/Header is based off who wins the prior week's event. Also RT any tennis news and give Tennis Weather Updates.
Wednesday Order of Plays: Medvedev has a dangerous opener with Opelka and Vukic has given Fritz trouble before. Sakkari vs Navarro and Tiafoe vs Kovacevic both good night matches. Also good matches on the 2nd court with Rublev vs Tien and Rybakina vs Mboko.

I need Venus Williams to never announce her retirement and just keep on randomly popping up like this to remind us all she's still got it. Absolutely unreal.
If Venus Williams asks for a wild card into a tournament you give her that wildcard what’s hard to comprehend about this.
Congratulations to @Venuseswilliams on reaching the second round in the Mubadala Citi DC Open!
Andrey Rublev will take on Learner Tien in the 2nd Round of Washington This is a very dangerous opener for Rublev, I'd pick him to win, but nobody would be surprised if Tien pulled this one off. Tien likes the court quicker, so will enjoy the conditions as well.

Elena Rybakina will take on Victoria Mboko in the 2nd Round of Wimbledon I'm excited for this one, at this stage I think Rybakina wins, but Mboko has incredible potential and to see her against a top player will be fascinating.

Emma Navarro will take on Maria Sakkari in the 2nd Round of Washington I'll probably be wrong on this but I'm going to take the upset in this one. It's good conditions for Sakkari, has made the Final previously, played well in Round 1, and Navarro has been just decent in 2025

1979 - Two players aged 40+ (Stan Wawrinka and Venus Wiliams) have won ATP and WTA-level matches in the same week for the first time since Ken Rosewall (Brisbane) and Renee Richards (Phoenix) in October 1979. Vintage. @atptour @ATPMediaInfo @WTA @WTA_insider
Venus Williams' first professional match, age 14: Wins 6-3 6-4 Venus Williams' latest professional match, age 45: Wins 6-3 6-4
Venus Williams after becoming the oldest WTA match winner since 2004: “I had to come back for the insurance, because they informed me this year that I’m on cobra. So it’s like, I got to get my benefits on” 😭😭😭😭
Venus Williams at 45 becomes the oldest player to win a WTA Tour match since Martina Navratilova won a match at Wimbledon at 47.
WTA 500 WASHINGTON R1: Venus Williams wins 6-3, 6-4 against Peyton Stearns At 45 years of age, Venus has won a WTA Tour match, not sure anyone saw this one coming. Tough night for Peyton, who didn't seem to be moving 100%, but this was the best match Venus has played in years.
This time last year, tennis was not on Venus Williams’ mind She was struggling with her knee and preparing for another surgery To see how far she’s come in one year is incredible. She looks fully fit like she’s put in lots of hours of training to be competitive again.
Venus Williams leads Stearns 6-3. I think we can officially put the wild card debate to bed, whether she wins or not. Which wasn't the point anyway, the point was she draws a crowd, and this place is packed, but is extremely competitive on top of it.
ATP 500 WASHINGTON R2: Corentin Moutet wins 6-0, 6-1 against Alexandre Muller I didn't see this whole match but what on earth happened here?? Moutet got into the main draw after Rune withdrew, and puts up two bakery products in under an hour.
ATP 500 WASHINGTON R2: Dan Evans wins 6-4, 6-4 against Alex Michelsen Long final game when serving it out, but the great day for Brits continues in the end. Evans won this event the last time he played it in 2023 and because of it got a wild card here.
ATP 500 WASHINGTON R2: Ben Shelton wins 6-3, 6-4 against Mackenzie McDonald 1 break in each set all he needed, gets a fairly easy win in this one.
