Despite numerous studies over years, nothing has changed. The government refuses to help and makes the situation worse. The #CDB for example. Promised to lift disabled people out of poverty 5 years ago. $2000 became $200 and disabled people like me are still 50% below poverty.

Exactly what I said was going to happen happened when I called my MP. Instead of listening to about the Canada disability benefit he wanted to redirect it to how he could help get support from the fucking food bank instead of actually changing the CDB to help disabled Canadians

She boasts that the disability benefit is "similar in spirit" to other benefits like child benefits and seniors top-ups. But it's more proof that canada doesn't value people with disabilities since the benefit is so low and so inaccessible.

Hardly any disabled people living in deep poverty qualify for the dtc, even less will get this benefit. It is nothing close to what was asked for or needed. Too many barriers, too low an amount to make any real changes in disabled lives. People are still going to starve and die.

I think I’m going to be able to stop crowdfunding once the CDB comes out. $200 isn’t a lot, but it’s enough to buy groceries.

I will never have my own house. I'm okay with that. What I'm not okay with is the government forcing homelessness on people while publicly focusing on houses for the wealthy and not *housing* for the most vulnerable.

In Canada, therapy is an out of pocket expense. However, MAID is free for those with mental illness as a secondary condition. (Will be expanding to sole condition mental illness March 17 2027)
