It is abundantly clear that we must repeal the Online Safety Act. More malign legislation carefully disguised as do-gooding. It must be binned.
The UK Online Safety act is trying to ban access to Wikipedia. It ain't about safety.
No matter what political side you're typically on, be careful. Just because you call out censorship from your opponents doesn't mean you can't have censorous backstabbers on your own side as well. Collective Shout and the situation in the UK are perfect examples of that.
Online age verification is like giving your ID to the bartender except the bartender gets to keep an exact copy of your ID for a significant period of time(months, possibly years, maybe even forever) and anybody who breaks into the bar can steal your ID.
ID verification for websites is flawed because when you have to show ID in real life it tends to just involve a person looking at it for 2 seconds with their own eyeballs before it goes right back into your wallet, instead of being scanned and uploaded to god knows where.
